Star English is the language arts division of the KG Group, which was founded in 1996 as a unique concept in creative education for children. Today the group has a presence across Asia, and through Star English continues to deliver high quality and stimulating English language classes to children aged three to 14. Over the summer, students can develop their skills in phonics, reading, writing, and speaking English through innovative teaching methods, and guided by our highly qualified and caring teachers. Younger students can explore the world of language and Bdevelop their vocabularies and pronunciation skills through our Read with the Toppees TM course and Fabulous Phonics TM. Our Creating Stories, Creative Writing, and Reading Comprehension workshops and camps provide the opportunity for students to explore characters and plots, while our Groovy Grammar TM, Spelling Specialists TM, and Language Links TM workshops will stimulate and consolidate technical language skills all through our special blend of learning and fun. 3 Three types of workshops kh s are offered during the summer: Monday to Friday workshops These run across a 5-day week, for the same one-hour time period each day (Fees ) Monday to Friday camps These half-day camps run either in the morning or afternoon, across a 5-day week (Fees $2,500) Monday to Friday exam prep camps These camps, offered on alternate days, help prepare students for Trinity College and Cambridge exams (Fees from $3,500 - $5,000) Tuition fees discount for parents Early bird discount: Enrol before 31 May to receive 10% discount on any workshop or camp Enrolment from 1 June onwards: 5% discount for enrolling in any two workshops (in one transaction for the same child) 10% discount for enrolling in any three or more workshops (in one transaction for the same child) Cash gift coupon For students who have enrolled in any two or more workshops, a cash gift coupon is issued against September tuition fees. 5 3-6 YEARS Fabulous Phonics Fabulous Phonics introduces students to phonemic awareness: listening for rhyme and alliteration in poems and stories, phonic games and activities, songs and actions. It helps children identify upper and lower case letter formations and provides practice in pre-writing skills. 3 6 NEW Read with the Toppees 2.5 hours per day from Mon - Fri This fun camp uses the popular Toppee characters to introduce children to the world of reading and phonics. Through role play activities, vocabulary games, and tasksheets it helps improve listening, speaking, and reading skills. 6 4-6 YEARS Phonics Fun Camp 2.5 hours per day from Mon - Fri This course introduces children to the letters of the alphabet and their sounds. They listen to stories based on each sound pattern, participate in role play activities, share phonics games, and have fun completing tasksheets which challenge their reading and writing skills. 4 6 $2,500 $2,375 (5% discount) $2,250 (10% discount) Proper Penmanship Manuscript Clear and well-formed manuscript handwriting is still a very important skill in the era of computers and digital communication. Children learn and practise their letter forming skills in this creative workshop. 4 6
7 5-8 YEARS NEW Cambridge Starters Exam Prep Camp 2.5 hours on Mon/Wed/Fri for 4 weeks This intensive camp prepares students for the requirements of the exam. It covers all grammar and language requirements in the four categories of speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Students must commit to the full 4-week programme. 5 8 $5,000 $4,750 (5% discount) $4,500 (10% discount) NEW Trinity Spoken English Grades 1 and 2 Exam Prep Camp 2.5 hours on Tue/Thu for 4 weeks This intensive camp prepares students for the requirements of the exam. 8 Creating Stories Creating Stories helps to spark students imaginations! It enhances creative thinking skills and establishes a sound platform for the development of literacy, through the introduction of key structures in storymaking: developing character profiles, organising plots, and recording in a logical order. 6 9 Creating Stories Camp 2.5 hours per day from Mon - Fri This camp develops and practises the key skills necessary for grammatically accurate and creatively interesting writing. 9 6-9 YEARS Language Links Camp 2.5 hours per day from Mon - Fri This dynamic camp explores the fun of English idiom, sayings, colloquialisms, and ways of making the spoken and written word more interesting through spoken conversation and interactive tasksheets and games. 10 Spelling Specialists This course provides a framework for learning basic spelling rules.
