Office Fax Daycare / Out- Of- School Care Youth and Community Services Queen Mary Community Services Association has been providing Programs for families, children and youth of our community for more than 35 years. Our programs are based at Queen Mary Community School where we maintain a close partnership with the school Administration in meeting the needs of the community. Queen Mary Community Services Association is a non- profit organization dedicated to the following objectives: To provide out- of- school care, preschool / daycare and youth related services to the Queen Mary Community; To provide opportunities for all people residing or working in the Queen Mary community to work co- operatively in understanding and resolving community problems; to serve as a sponsoring body for integrated community and school activities, events, programs and services; to develop and deliver community based services needed in the Queen Mary Community, and to work co- operatively with other individuals and organizations in the community in pursuit of these objectives. To meet these objectives your support and participation is required. We hope that the information provided in this pamphlet may encourage you to become part of the family of Queen Mary Community Services Association QMCSA works in partnership with Queen Mary Community School, the North Vancouver Recreation Centre, North Vancouver City and North Shore Neighbourhood House to deliver quality programs to the Queen Mary and Lower Lonsdale community of children and families Introducing children to a variety of positive options for recreation and the arts contributes to the social/ emotional well being of the community at large. Children learn to make positive for themselves, increase their communication and problem solving skills, as well as emotional maturity, and eventually become responsible contributing adults. Parents, while their children attend programs, can themselves further their education and become contributing member of the work force. 2 QUEEN MARY OUT- OF- SCHOOL CARE Queen Mary Out- Of- School Care provides a safe and secure child care environment for children from kindergarten to grade seven. Child Care (before and after school): The child care program is committed to running a program of unequalled quality. Regular outings to pursue recreational and educational activities are an integral part of the program. The facility and its equipment provide for a wide variety of experimental learning and creative play opportunities. The staff to participant ration is significantly higher than mandated by child care regulations. Furthermore, cultural diversity and a co- operative, non- threatening environment are important characteristic of our program. Another cornerstone of our childcare programs is affordability. Our fees are among the lowest on the North Shore ensuring that cost is not a barrier to quality care QUEEN MARY PRESCHOOL / DAYCARE The Preschool/Daycare plays an important role in the development of young children. It is a place where children learn as they play and share experiences with others. The children are provided with a variety of materials and experiences suited to their individual needs. With guidance and encouragement the preschoolers prepare, in a school setting, for entrance to kindergarten and regular school programs. Effective September 1, 2007 North Shore Vancouver Coastal Health approved a License change to allow the preschool program to continue and to also provide Group Daycare for children age 30 months to kindergarten. This allows for preschool/daycare children to attend from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

4 YOUTH AND COMMUNITY SERVICES The Youth and Community Services Program provides support to Queen Mary Community School and the Lower Lonsdale Community. A van and fuel are provided to facilitate programs for children requiring extra support, field trips, sports teams and events. The Association also sponsors and delivers Christmas hampers and provides subsidy for families who cannot afford full program fees. Program Activities Include: Sports Education Activities: Baseball, football, basketball, ball hockey and soccer for children whose families, due to social circumstances, cannot afford the expense or time for organized community sports programs. Also, after- school programs including martial arts, skating lessons, swimming lessons, art and drama. Sponsor Grad Trip: Sponsor annual grade 6 and 7 classes field trip to Victoria (Royal B.C. Museum and visit B.C. Legislature). School Bus: Supports Queen Mary Community School and other local schools and social services programs in providing school bus and driver for transporting youth. Sailing Program: April 3, 2006 the Eagle Harbour Yacht Club invited Queen Mary Community Services Association to participate in their Underprivileged Children Sailing School Initiative. The Eagle Harbour Yacht Club provide youth sailing lessons for a two- week session from July 1 to August 31. The 2006 summer program permitted scholarships for two your to attend. More youth have participated each year. A private, anonymous, charitable foundation provides funding for this community service. Summer Daycamp: July and August, 7:00 am to 6:00 pm., Monday to Friday for children 5 to 12 years old includes field trips, and transportation, 2 snacks each day, sports activities, arts, crafts, water play, games, science, cooking, baking, computers, gym activities, presentations and theme days.
