On April 21, 2015, we celebrated the Alumni Mass and reception for the OLL Alumni who are graduating from high school this year. We are so proud of them and of all of their accomplishments. Many of them will be attending the following universities/colleges in the fall: Harvard University in Boston; Parsons Paris, France; New World School of the Arts for Music Theatre (full academic scholarship); Emery Riddle Aeronautical University (Academic/Presidential/ Florida Medallion/Bright Future Scholarships); Manhattan College in Riverdale, NYC (Dean s list Merit Scholarship/Humanities Merit Scholarship); University of Miami (Academic Scholarship/ Miami Herald Silver Knight Award); Indian River State College (Volleyball full Scholarship); University of Florida (Track & Field/Cross-Country Scholarship); St. Thomas University (Academic Scholarship); Florida International University (various Academic Scholarships); Florida State University (Honors Program); Nova Southeastern University; Community College of Baltimore Essex (Baseball Scholarship); University of Central Florida in Orlando (Academic Scholarship/Top 10 Knight Award/Jose Marti Scholarship); also accepted at Seton Hall University; St. John s University; Simmons College in Boston, University of South Florida in Tampa; Gulf Coast University; Loyola University in New Orleans. 7 Notes & Thoughts Vocation Cup We thank the following families for hosting the Vocation Cup this past week: The Gonzalez Family The Barrera Family The Vocation Blessing Cup is a wonderful instrument of prayer and devotion for our parish families. The Cup reminds each host family that it is their responsibility to pray for and foster vocations to the priesthood and religious life. A family is asked to host the Vocation Cup for one week. It will travel from home to home as a sign of our total parish commitment to praying for vocations. Respect Life Pope Francis has captivated the world with his humility, warmth and compassion for each person. Vivid accounts of his tenderness for "the least of these" --- the elderly, the imprisoned, those with disfiguring disabilities, the unborn, and many more-- seize our attention. Why? As the heart of each of these interactions is a truth which resonates in our hearts, revealing to us something essential to understanding ourselves and our purpose. If you are not both a registered and active member of our parish, Baptisms, Marriages, Sponsor certificates and other documents needed from the Church will take longer to obtain and, in some cases, not possible. You must be attending Mass regularly and be an active member of the parish.
