4 Citrix Receiver Download and Installation These instructions will help you download and install the Citrix receiver. They will also help you configure the settings to work with the district services which are available through the Citrix Receiver. The Citrix receiver is a small application that permits you to access other computers and control them remotely. This Citrix receiver when configured will permit those that have the right account privileges, to access certain services and applications that are available through the district network. When working within the Citrix receiver you will see and control the desktop of another computer through your ipad. Bear in mind that an ipad is not a computer with a traditional keyboard or mouse. The computer you are accessing remotely is setup to work with a traditional keyboard and mouse. You will be able to use the on screen keyboard on your ipad and use your finger on the ipad to tap and open or move things around. It might not be easy to navigate the applications at first, but like all things the more you practice the better you will become. Another thing to keep in mind is that you will be remotely controlling the desktop of a Windows computer. This will be a little strange since you are using an Apple device. Here is another thing to bear in mind. If you download a file while remotely controlling the computer, that file will NOT be downloaded to your ipad. The file will be on the remote computer. Currently there is no way of transferring that file to your ipad. Open the App Store In this first step you will need to open the App store so we can find the Citrix Receiver. 5 Searching You should see the search box in the upper right corner of the App store. Tap once inside the search box. In this image you will notice a small red circle. This circle will be used to help you know where to tap on the ipad screen. Citrix Receiver for ipad - 5

6 ipad Response Once you tap in the search box a cursor will blink in the box and the on screen keyboard will appear at the bottom. In this example I just pasted a keyboard for an example it wont actually look this way. Citrix Receiver for ipad - 6

7 Enter your search Use the keyboard to type Citrix. You should see a result similar to this example. Find the suggestion titled citrix receiver and tap on it once. Citrix Receiver for ipad - 7

8 Citrix Receiver for ipad You should see the Citrix Receiver for ipad shown. You will notice that the application is free. Tap once on the Free button. I won't put a red dot over the Free button so you can see it. Citrix Receiver for ipad - 8

9 Install App The Free button will be replaced with an INSTALL APP button. Tap this button. Citrix Receiver for ipad - 9

10 Apple ID Password You will be prompted to enter your Apple ID password. If you do not have and Apple ID you will need to create one. On our support page for the ipad you will find downloadable instructions similar to these to help you setup an account with a credit card or to set up a free account without the need for a credit card. I'll assume you have an Apple ID for this example. Tap in the password once and enter your password and tap the OK button. Loading The App store will close and you will be taken to one of the screens on the ipad. You will see the Citrix icon and a loading bar. The loading process should take a few seconds. 11 Installing The loading bar will be replaced with the Installing bar. This too. should only take a few seconds. Citrix Receiver for ipad - 11

12 Citrix Receiver Configuration In this part of the lesson we will be configuring the Citrix Receiver to work with the district network. Launch Citrix Receiver Now that the Citrix Receiver is installed tap once on the application to begin the configuration process. Citrix Receiver for ipad - 12

13 Welcome to Citrix Receiver You will see a screen similar to this when the Citrix Receiver launches. We need to configure the services before it can be used with the district network services. Let's look in the lower left of the screen. Citrix Receiver for ipad - 13

14 Get Started Tap the get started link. Citrix Receiver for ipad - 14

15 New Store dialogue A new store dialogue box will appear to help you configure the settings. We will need to use manually settings. Tap the icon in the lower left of the dialogue box. Citrix Receiver for ipad - 15

16 A closer look The previous screen step might have been too small so this is a close-up. Tap the icon with the arrow not the Help link. Manual Setup A pop up menu will appear with two options. You will tap the Manual setup option. Citrix Receiver for ipad - 16

17 Manual dialogue box A manual setup dialogue box will appear. Let's walk through each of the steps closely. Tap once inside the Address field. Address information This will probably be the most difficult part of the entire operation. You will need to correctly enter this address information. The address information is provided below just in case you can't read the address on the example. The address is case sensitive. You must use the correct combination of upper and lower case letters. 18 Description There is no specific name required for the description. I used Ysleta Citrix to make it easy but it could really be anything you like. Tap once in the Description field and enter a description. XenApp Services The XenApp Services option should already be checked. If it is not tap once to make sure it has a check mark. Domain name The Domain name field must be yisd.net. Tap once in this field and enter this information. Citrix Receiver for ipad - 18

19 Username and password The last step is to enter your district username. This is the same username used for most things in the district. The password is optional so you don't have to enter it now. You will be asked to enter it later so keep it handy. Citrix Receiver for ipad - 19

20 Save the configuration Tap the save button back at the top of the New Store dialogue box. Before you do, remember what we tell our kids. Double check your work and make sure you haven't made any mistakes. Your credentials please Remember when I told you to keep your password handy. Well, it time to use it. Tap once in the password field and enter your district password. After you enter your password tap the OK button. Citrix Receiver for ipad - 20

21 Successful configuration If you are presented with a screen similar to this one, then you have successfully configured your Citrix account.
