2 BASF Polyurethanes The polyurethanes business division is a core business of BASF. We are one of the leading international suppliers of isocyanates, polyols, systems solutions and specialty elastomers. In Asia, the industry is considered one of the most promising growth platforms by the company. Over the last ten years, BASF has invested significantly in plant, technology and people to become one of the leading players in the industry in Asia. More than 20% of the business division turnover is already contributed by Asia Pacific and over 70% of the products sold have been made within Asia since The business philosophies guiding our success are based on the following principles: Sustainability We have an unrelenting focus on sustainability issues relating to Safety, Health, Environment and Product Stewardship in the industry. Where we operate to the laws of the country and often to the highest operating global standards within the company. As a key supplier of insulation material, we put special focus on environmental issues and energy efficiencies as key driver for our growth. World Scale Basic Chemical Plants in the Region We believe in investing and supplying the Basic Chemical needs of our customers from world scale, fully integrated plants within the region. We believe this approach offers our customers long-term cost competitiveness, consistent quality and the most reliable delivery service. BASF polyurethanes today operates basic chemical plants in the following locations: - MDI/TDI Shanghai, China Yeosu, Korea - PEOL plant Ulsan, Korea - PO (Joint-Venture with Shell) Singapore Further investments in other key basic materials are being planned to further strengthen our support for our customers.

3 Innovation We believe innovation is ultimately our most effective driver for growth and competitiveness against today's world of rapid technological, social and environmental changes. To ensure the needs of the industry in each region and application segments are addressed in a timely manner, a Regional Technical Development Centre for Asia has been established in Shanghai in For the footwear segment, a development center for Asia has been established in Nansha adjacent to our system facilities. These centers in Asia will form part of a powerful global R & D network comprising the other technical centers in Wyandotte (USA), Lemfoerde and Ludwigshafen (Germany) to enable worldwide customers to efficiently tap into the latest ideas and innovations from around the world. Over the years, we have continued to recruit, train and grow a strong local and multinational team in Asia so as to be able to continue to drive our business philosophies, implement our plans, and to meet your growing needs inside and outside of Asia.

4 Bring System Solutions Close to Customers For downstream customers, we believe in understanding their needs by industry and application segments. No two customers have identical needs and we pride ourselves in tailoring products for such customers so that they are able to win in their market place using our most up-to-date and cost effective system solutions or specialty elastomers. We believe such customers are best served by our unique BASF decentralized network of system houses located close to the customers to ensure fast and just-in-time delivery and technical services. Today, BASF has a network of more than 30 systems houses around the world serving the needs of this special category of customers. In Asia, we currently have nine systems facilities in Nansha, China Shanghai, China Hinschu, Taiwan New Mumbai, India Shinshiro, Japan Ulsan, Korea Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia Bangkok, Thailand Melbourne, Australia For specialty elastomers, Cellasto NVH parts are produced in Nansha, China and two regional scale TPU plants in Pudong, China and Yokkaichi, Japan.
