3 Milan, June 1 st 2013 Dear Reader, In the name of the MILMUN Association, it is our pleasure to present you the MILMUN 2013 Conference Report. This document will provide you with all the relevant information collected during this year s MILMUN preparation and the event itself. The Executive, together with a devoted Secretariat and the support of the Association s Advisory Board, managed to attract more than 130 participants of 38 different nationalities, representing 28 Universities. This result would not have been possible without the strong and continuous support of our Patrons, Partners and Sponsors! As in previous years, we were honoredby the presence of world-class Representatives of the academic and professional worldon the Conference Theme: United We Stand Cooperation in a Multipolar World. The Guest Speakers presence guaranteed energetic discussions in all s and produced interesting suggestions on how to solve some of today s most pressing global issues. A Model United Nations (MUN) is an academic simulation of International Institutions, such as the United Nations and European Union, where participants assume the role of diplomats and represent a country other than that of their own nationality. The aim of this alternative education approach is to allow students to familiarize themselves with the UN& EU systems, investigate possible solutions to global issues and researchontheir assigned country s cultural, economic and political positions. Background With its eighth Edition in 2013, the Milan International MUN (MILMUN) Conference is the longest-lasting annual University-level simulation of International Institutions in Italy. It was first held in May 2006 and has since then attracted more than 930 young academics of over 70 different nationalities representing 133 Universities from all over the world MILMUN Association
