3 DESCRIPTION The estate has a total surface of 373 hectares, located in the municipality of Castelnuovo Berardenga, a few kilometers from Siena, at an altitude between 350 and 410 metres above the sea level. The property, originally part of the establishment s holdings, has belonged to a renowned noble family from Siena from 14th Century to the first half of 19th Century and was a blooming farm estate, afterwards dedicated to the growing of grapes and, at the same time, meeting place of humanists, artists and literalists. The owners enhanced, during the centuries, a sizable wine production, although succeeding in refining the quality, by bottling their own wine, only in the last decades. The farm activity has been completely modernized and implemented in the last ten years, both on the agricultural point of view, with the remake of disused vineyards, and on the real estate point of view, with the creation of new cellars, the restoration of some parts used in the past as cellars and a small farm with staff quarters. The estate is now provided with equipment, machinery and tools for vineyards and olive grove processing, harvesting of wine grapes, stock and preservation of wine and oil and for the bottling and storage of the end product. The structure is composed of two separate groups of buildings. The first group includes cellars for wine making and storage and there is also a shop and large tasting room. Next to the cellar are located some rooms used as depot for agricultural machinery. In an adjacent building are placed the staff quarters. The second group of buildings is currently used as an Agriturismo and composed of six independent apartments, of recent renovation, disposed on two separate half blocks, perfectly integrated with the surrounding landscape, with carefully maintained external relax-area and large pool. On the lower ground floor are located some cellars, the barricaia, the bottaia, the warehouse, the rooms for bottling and storage of the end product. There are also some offices, workshops, dressing rooms, meeting room, shop and bathrooms. On the ground floor is located the tasting room with kitchen, pantry, room for grape withering and bathroom. There are also some rooms for the storage of agricultural machinery, a mechanic s workshop and a recovery for agricultural tools. On a reserved position, is located the Agriturismo, composed of two separate buildings, with six apartments, each with independent entrance, four on the ground floor and two on the first floor. The Agriturismo is completed by a garden and pool. The estate includes 57 hectares of vineyards with Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot and Malvasia near. The vineyards are registered as Chianti Classico DOCG, Colli dell Etruria Centrale DOC and IGT Toscana. There are also 9 hectares of specialized olive grove and additional plants distributed on the agricultural land for a total of 6000 plants, registered to the DOP Chianti Classico.
