2 When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed: To protect against electric shock, do not immerse cord, plug or appliance in water or any other liquid. Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Inspect tool cords periodically and if damaged have them repaired by an authorised service facility. Maintain tools with care. Keep work area clear, cluttered work areas and benches invite injuries. Do not use in damp or wet locations. Keep work area well lit. Do not use tools in the presence of flammable liquids or gasses. Guard against electric shock avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces (e.g. Pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerators). Store idle tools. Do not force small tools to do the job of a heavy duty tool. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery, they can be caught in moving parts. Wear protective hair covering to contain long hair. Use protective glasses, dust masks and eye equipment (if work environment creates dust). Never yank the cord to disconnect it from the socket. Do not let cord hang over the edge of a table or counter, or touch hot surfaces. Do not operate machinery when tired or after the consumption of alcohol. Do not place on or near heat sources, and use the Electric Sharpener on a level, stable surface. Do not use this appliance for any other use than the intended use it is designed for. Ensure there is sufficient distance between the sharpener and other items on the work surface or work station, or sufficient distance between the sharpener and the confines of the area in which it is situated. We recommend a minimum clearance around all faces of at least 10cm. Before use, check thoroughly for any defects and do NOT use if defects are found. Take care not to drop the appliance as heavy impacts may cause internal damage. If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid hazard. 3 Do not overreach whilst operating equipment, keep proper footing and balance at all times. Do not use the tool if the switch does not turn it on and off. Have your tool repaired by a qualified person. This electric tool complies with the relevant safety rules. Repairs should only be carried out by qualified persons using original spare parts, otherwise this may result in considerable danger to the user. Do not use damaged or misshapen grinding wheels. Use only grinding wheels recommended by the manufacturer which have a marked speed equal to or greater than the speed marked on the nameplate of the tool. Always remove the plug from the mains socket before making any adjustments or maintenance, including changing the grinding wheel. Wear eye protection and check that eye shields on the grinder are properly adjusted. Always turn the sharpener off when not in use and never leave it unattended without first switching off and removing the power plug. Do not use the sharpener unless all the guards are properly fitted and secure. Never apply excessive pressure to the wheel, as it might shatter and cause personal injury. Do not let anyone under 18 years operate this tool. Periodically check that all nuts, bolts and other fixings are properly tightened. Do not use a wheel that has received a blow, especially to the side of the wheel. Replace a cracked or suspect wheel. Always allow a new wheel to run for a few minutes at full speed before using it. Check that the wheel rotates freely each time before start up. Check that the work rests are properly adjusted before commencing use. Do not overload the sharpener. Allow the sharpener to run at full speed, or close to full speed during use. Use personal safety equipment when operating this tool.

8 Before first use This Electric Sharpener includes three working modules: HSS drill sharpener module sharpens all high speed drill bits from 0.3cm 1cm. Knife and scissor sharpener module sharpens all straight edged knives and scissors. Chisel and plane sharpener module regrinds chisel and plane blades up to 5.1cm wide. Sharpening HSS bits Ensure that the unit is switched off at the main switch and plug socket. Slide the module labelled high speed drill sharpener onto the base unit (see fig B1 & B2) Remove the clamp (3) from the clamp holder and insert the bit drill (4) to be sharpened. Rotate the clamping ring (5) in a clockwise direction to tighten the clamp sufficiently, but allow a little room for movement. (see fig C2). Place the clamp containing your drill bit into the setting slot (6), using the grooves in the side to lower it in correctly (see fig. D1, D2). Move the drill bit forward and up so that it lays in the V guide and touches the end. (see fig E). Turn the drill bit until the V guide fully drops over it. All four drill bit corners should now be touching the V guide sides. Ensure that the drill and holder are fully down into the setting slot. With the drill bit in this position, tighten the clamping ring in a clockwise direction (see fig E). Lift the V guide and remove the clamp and drill bit. Transfer the clamp and drill bit into the clamp holder (see fig G). Switch the power unit on at the socket, then at the switch on the base unit. Move the clamp holder from side to side as indicated by the arrow on the sharpener, securing with light finger pressure (see fig H). Remove drill bit, clamp and turn over. Repeat the previous step.

9 Check that the leading edge of both flutes are equally sharp. They should meet exactly in the middle (see fig J1). Sharpening knives Ensure that the unit is switched off at the main switch and plug socket. Slide the module labelled knife and scissor sharpener (8) onto the base unit. Switch the power unit on at the socket and at the switch. Hold the knife handle towards you and insert the handle end of the blade into the knife sharpening slot (10). (see fig K). As soon as the blade touches the grinding wheel, draw it (with light steady pressure) across the wheel to the tip, then remove. Do not apply too much pressure. Insert the second side of the blade into the other top guide slot and repeat (4). (See fig L). Repeat sharpening each side until a clean, sharp edge is attained. Turn the unit off at the switch, then at the socket before removing the knife and scissor sharpener module. Ensure that the grinding wheel has fully stopped. Sharpening scissors Note: This module is suitable for all straight edged household knives and scissors only. DO NOT USE ON SERRATED EDGED BLADES. Slide the module labelled knife and scissor sharpener (8) onto the base unit. Switch the power unit on at the socket and at the switch. Open the scissors fully. Slide the first scissor blade through the scissor sharpening slot. Keep the pivot of scissors and other blade to the right hand side (See fig. M). Draw the blade across grinding wheel from pivot to top (see fig N). Repeat if necessary, until clean sharp edges are achieved. Turn the unit off at the switch, then at the socket before removing the knife and scissor sharpener module. Ensure that the grinding wheel has fully stopped. Sharpening chisel and plane blades Ensure that the unit is switched off at the main switch and plug socket. Slide the module labelled chisel and plane sharpener (12) onto the base unit. Place the blade against the back lip of the plate. The magnet (13) helps to hold this in place (see fig O). The sharpening angle must match the existing bevelled angle on the blade tip. To adjust, turn knob (15) in an anti- clockwise direction. Adjust the plate. The sharpening angle is indicated by the small arrow, the adjustable grinding angle is between 15 to 50 degrees. Ensure that the blade edge touches the grinding wheel. Tighten the angle adjusting knob (see fig P). Switch the power unit on at the socket and switch.

10 Slide the blade and plate (with light steady pressure) back and forth across the grinding wheel in a continuous motion. Do not hold the blade stationary as this will cause irregular sharpening. Gradually adjust the blade down the plate and make sure the bevelled edge and tip are evenly sharp. If not, adjust the grinding angle, it is important that the sharpening angle matches the existing bevelled angle of the blade (see fig S). When sharpening thin chisel blades, place the small chisel guide onto the plate to act as a spacer and sharpen as before. (see fig T). Switch the power unit on at the socket and at the switch. It is recommended that after grinding, the blade tip is honed on an oil stone. 11 MAINTENANCE Keep all working controls and air vents free from of dust, dirt and debris. Your power tool requires no lubrication or maintenance. There are no serviceable parts in your power tool. Check regularly for any dust particles entering the grills around the motor and the switch. Use a soft brush to remove any dust particles. We recommend wearing safety glasses to protect your eyes whilst cleaning. Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the body of the power tool. Do not immerse in water, or use petrol or alcohol based products to clean your tool. WARNING Keep the appliance away from children. Check the appliance and power cable carefully for damage before each use. Before connecting the appliance, check if the voltage indicated on the bottom of the appliance is in accordance with the main voltage in your home.

12 The appliance should not be used by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. Occasionally you may see sparks through the ventilation slots. This is normal and will no damage your power tool. DISPOSAL Dispose of all paper, cartons and plastic in accordance with your local recycling regulations. At the end of the product s lifespan please dispose of it at an authorised household waste recycling centre.
