The Training Programs service is delineated into packages that have been developed to offer clearly defined, yet flexible training to target system and technology areas. 4 Mobile Broadband Charging (MBC) 2.0 Overview LZU R1A Description The Mobile Broadband Charging (MBC) 2.0 system is a solution to charge in real time both pre-paid and post-paid subscribers for data usage. This solution can be either standalone or integrated as a feature into the Ericsson Charging System. The Standalone MBC solution is composed of SDP, AIR/AF (all part of Charging System) and Online Mediation- called Online Charging Control (OCC) in the MBC solution. The integrated solution uses the Ericsson Charging System hardware but uses CCN instead of OCC as the entry point. This course provides the participants with a general technical knowledge of the Ericsson MBC 2.0 Solution. The course focuses on describing the features of MBC 2.0, its architecture and how traffic cases are handled. It also focuses on the structure and function of the solution with particular emphasis on all nodes involved and node capabilities. The node platforms and interfaces are examined along with the service features, both basic and optional. The course prepares students for further study on specific nodes and applications so that the MBC system can be utilized to its full potential. Learning objectives On completion of this course the participants will be able to: 1 Describe the concept and architecture of the MBC solution 1.1 Describe the concept and role of Mobile Broadband Charging (MBC). 1.2 Illustrate the main Architecture of MBC solution. 1.3 List and describe the MBC, Core and Mediation Network Nodes and outline the impact of Mobile Broadband Charging on these nodes. 1.4 Indicate the important interactions between the nodes. 2 Explain the various methods of subscriber management 2.1 Understand the concept of Service Class in the Mobile Broadband Charging System 2.2 Identify the SDP Management Application (SMA) and Rule Management Application (RMA) GUI. 2.3 Describe the Lifecycle of a CS subscriber 2.4 Enumerate the refill methods and charging mechanisms 2.5 Describe the possible bonus and promotion plans 3 Discuss the features available with MBC Give an account of the Basic and Optional functionality in MBC 2.0

6 Mobile Broadband Charging (MBC) 2.0 Rating Management LZU R1A Description This course focuses on Mobile Broadband Charging (MBC) rating functionality. The course will explore the impact of features such as Timer Charging, Bandwidth Control, Data Traffic Rating and Data Limit. Features such as Dedicated Accounts, Accumulators, User Notifications, Shared Accounts, Usage Counters and Thresholds and Subscriber Segmentation will also be discussed. The course teaches students to design, simulate and activate selection structures for realtime bandwidth control and rating of GPRS mobile data in the network. The course prepares students for further study on specific nodes and applications so that the MBC system can be utilized to its full potential. 9 Mobile Broadband Charging (MBC) 2.0 System Administration LZU R1A Description This course teaches the participants how to operate & maintain the MBC system. It is an instructor-lead-training (ILT) course for the SDP, AIR Server and Account Finder. Participants will be shown how to complete daily routine tasks on the servers to ensure the smooth running of the Mobile Broadband Charging System. They will also learn how to configure the servers to deliver the best service possible to customers. 12 OCC Surveillance for Mobile Broadband Charging 2.0 LZU R1A Description Effectively utilising Online Charging Control allows operators to introduce new services and revenue streams without delay. New and exciting business opportunities can be integrated into existing network infrastructure, using the OCC node as a single point for charging data. This course introduces the fundamentals of Online Charging Control, where it sits in the network, the GUI, and configuration of the OCC component of MBC.
