4 the Battery There are five (5) ways to charge the QL Series battery, two of which beig with the battery outside the priter (Quad Charger ad Smart Charger-2), ad three iside the priter (AC Power Adapter, Sigle Bay Etheret Cradle, ad Four Bay Etheret Cradle). All five optios are detailed i the followig sectios. UCLI72-4 Quad Charger (All QL Series Priters) The UCLI72-4 Quad Charger charges up to four QL Series battery packs simultaeously. Batteries must be removed from the priter to be charged i the Quad Charger. The idicators uder the battery will allow you to moitor the chargig process per the table below: Amber Idicator 2. Slide Battery Pack ito Charger bay 3. Rock Battery Pack ito place Gree Idicator Charger Bay 1. Plug Power Supply ito A.C. Outlet. Power Idicator Power Supply Smart Charger-2 (SC2) Sigle Battery Charger (All QL Series Priters) Battery Pack Charge Status LED Idicator Health Status LED Idicator Plug the SC2 charger ito the AC outlet. Isert the smart battery pack i the SC2 charger. The LED o the frot of the charger will idicate the battery pack s charge status. Gree idicates fully charged, Yellow idicates chargig, ad Amber idicates a fault. Whe the SC2 is plugged i but o battery is preset, the Charge Status LED idicator will be gree. A secod LED will idicate the health of the battery pack: Gree=GOOD, Yellow=CAPACITY DIMINISHED, Yellow Flashig=PAST USEFUL LIFE, ad Amber=UNUSABLE-REPLACE BATTERY. If the LED is off, there is either o battery or power preset. Cosult the QL Series User Guide available at for complete iformatio o usig the SC2 Sigle Charger. Amber Gree Battery Status O Off O Flashig 80% charged (O.K. to use) Off O Completely Charged Flashig Off Fault The charge state of the QL Series battery is reflected by the LED Charge Idicator located o the frot of priter (as illustrated i the sectio o Page 11). Cautio Do ot icierate, disassemble, short circuit, or expose to temperatures higher tha 60 o C (140 o F). 4

5 AC Power Adapter (icluded i kit p/ P ) (All QL Series Priters) DC Iput Jack Ql320 AC Adapter AC Power Cord (varies with locatio) Ope the protective cover o the QL Series priter to expose the DC iput charger jack. Coect the appropriate AC power cord for your geography to the adapter ad the plug the power cord ito a AC receptacle. Plug the barrel plug from the AC adapter ito the charger jack o the priter. The priter will power up ad begi chargig. The priter ca be left o or tured off at this poit. will cotiue i either state, the status of which will be moitored by the LED charge idicator o the frot of the priter. Batteries are shipped ucharged. Remove protective shrikwrap ad labels from ew battery packs ad allow them to charge completely prior to iitial use. 6 Sigle Bay (QL420-EC for QL420 Oly) Etheret Status Idicator Dockig Cotact Access Release Butto Power Status Idicator I order to dock a QL Series priter o oe of the above cradle accessories, you must first access the dockig cotacts located o the bottom of the priter. O the QL220 ad 320 priters, you must remove the Dockig Cradle Access sticker (as show) to expose the dockig cotacts. Remove Dockig Cradle Access sticker before dockig the priter. 10 Coectig the Priter Coect The Priter With a Cable You ca coect your priter to a termial or a PC usig either RS232C or USB protocols. USB drivers are icluded i the Zebra Desiger Driver which is available o the QL Series product CD or ca be dowloaded from the Zebra Web site at Cable Commuicatios with a Termial. 16 Accessories (cot.) Soft Case All QL Series priters have soft case optios that also allow you to carry the priter from your belt. (The QL420 soft case is show i the accompayig graphic.) Note: The QL220 & 320 soft case is ot compatible with priters equipped with the exteded capacity battery optio Pivot top half of Exo-skeleto to ope positio. Hard Case The QL420 priter has a hard case optio that also allows you to carry the priter from your belt with a metal belt clip. The belt clip is mouted to the hard case ad priter with two screws. If o belt clip is used, two shorter screws are used to hold the priter to the hard case. Isert the QL420 priter ito the lower half of the Exo-skeleto. Close the top half ad sap shut to secure. 16
