2 ABOUT NAOMI SIMSON Naomi Simson holds many labels entrepreneur, speaker, director, chair, mother, author, blogger, innovator and TV personality. Before starting up Red Balloon Naomi worked with big brands including IBM, Apple, KPMG and Ansett Airlines, all of which influenced who she is today. Naomi has received numerous business awards including The 2008 National Telstra Business Womenʼs Innovation Award and the 2011 National Ernst Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award. Committed to making the world a better place, Naomi is often called upon by the media to comment on topics including employee engagement, leadership, management, women in business and entrepreneurship. RED BALLOON Naomi Simson founded Red Balloon in 2001 from her front room with just $25,000, a second hand computer and help from her business partner Peter. Now considered one of Australia s Tech Success stories, Red Balloon is an online experience gift retailer, which has sold more than 2.5 million experiences. The company sold 300 vouchers in its first year, in its second year it sold 300 vouchers a month and it now sells more than 300 vouchers every few hours.

Together with her husband Edmund, Maybanke Susannah Anderson built Maybanke in The house was converted into flats in the 1930 s and they are restoring it into a family home. Maybanke Susannah Anderson was a woman of passion, and a woman of her words and writings. She was an educator, a foundation vice- president of the Womanhood Suffrage League of NSW and President in She was a powerfully independent woman, after divorcing her husband in She was empowered to become a member of the Women s Literary Society, and later the founder and secretary- treasurer of the Australasian Home Reading Union.

4 And she published and edited her own fortnightly paper, Women s Voice. To think that this wonderfully inspirational woman lived in Naomi s house all those years ago is something that Naomi is proud of.
