Shabby 'n' Oh So Chic By Brenda Greenwalt of Lillie Mae's Crafts A Total of 10 Tips, Tricks, & Patterns Shabby 'n' Oh So Chic
2 Shabby and Chic is no particular style. It is a combination of old and new, white and pastels, flowers, lace, and candles. If you love going to flea markets, thrift stores, and rummage sales, than you will love decorating shabby and chic. Putting the old with the new and mismatching is what it's all about. The end result is a room that is comfortable and familiar, warm and inviting, and absolutely beautiful. In this e-book are 10 tips, tricks, and patterns. The "patterns" are complete with pictures, step-by-step instructions, and full-size patterns. The "tips and tricks" consists of a few ideas that are both cheap and easy to create. They may call for a trip to the local flea market or you may find, after a little rooting around in the basement and attic, that you have at home what you need. As usual, please see my "terms of use." 2
3 Contents: 1. Mini Roses in Vase 2. Shabby Candle Stick 3. Beads 'n' Baubles 4. Vintage Threads 5. Shabby Susie 6. Shabby Roses in Basket 7. Vintage Blue Rose Bottle 8. Rose Heart Ornie 9. Bunny Blue 10. Mini Rag Ball Jar For all included in this E-book: Staining: Supplies: Instant coffee, vanilla extract, fragrance oil, glass jar with lid, old cookie sheet, wax paper, rags Instructions: Combine ¼ cup instant coffee, 2 cups hot water, 1/4 cup Vanilla extract and ¼ teaspoon fragrance oil (Some of my preferred scents are cinnamon bun, sugar cookies, and vanilla) in a glass jar with lid. Shake for few minutes until thoroughly mixed. If the scent is not strong enough for your preference, add another 1/8 teaspoon of fragrance oil and continue this until the scent is to your liking. However, I would suggest only adding 1/8 teaspoon of fragrance oil each time because if you add too much and the scent is too strong for you, you will have to start over. Line an old cookie sheet with old rags and lay what you re staining here. With a sponge brush or spray bottle thoroughly coat. Bake for 10 minutes at 200 degrees. Check often as this can catch on fire. If you have to bake longer, only bake at 5 minute increments and always KEEP checking the oven. Store left over stain mixture in glass jar with lid for your next primitive project. Rusting: Supplies: White vinegar, peroxide, salt, large plastic container, paper towels, spritz bottle. Instructions: Combine 2 cups white vinegar, 1/4 cup peroxide, and 2 Tablespoons salt in a large plastic container; let them soak 4 hours. Remove to paper towels and spritz with peroxide and spread salt on them. Let them sit about 2 more hours. You will have wonderfully rusty stuff! You can do pins, bells, scissors, and just about anything your little prim heart desires! NOTE: This recipe calls for a large container as this recipe foams up pretty quickly. Read through all directions before beginning. 3
