5 Reservoir Heat Dissipation The heat stored in the hydraulic fluid can only be dissipated through the surface of the reservoir, all fluid passing components and if provided, through a heat exchanger. Please consult the following chart for heat dissipation through the reservoir surface. 8 Characteristics General Features HK Compact Power Units are modular designed systems and can be accommodated to the specific projects in different variations. The assembly of a project specific valve combination permits the realisation of complex hydraulic systems. Oil-Tank Cast aluminium Oil-Tank permit a high heat dissipation thanks to the elevated coefficient of thermal conduction of aluminium. Electric Motor The power units are actuated by 4-pole, three phase asynchronous motors with cage-rotor. Tension Selection: V, 50 Hz V Y, 50 Hz V Y, 60 Hz Protection IP 55, Isolation Class F more efficient power effect can be realised by various kinds of work according DIN VDE Other electric motors can be supplied after manufacturer consultation. Protective motor switches, directly connected to the terminal box are available as option. Gear Pump The external gear pump allows system pressures up to 240 bar. To avoid useless throttling and therefore intense oil heating, the flow capacity should not be oversized. Filter return line filter with by-pass valve is directly connected to the valve block. Cracking pressure of the by-pass valve: 3,5 bar. Fibreglass elements with a filter quality of 10 µm absolute are standard. Paint Finish Standard design of the aluminium cast reservoir is not paint finished, the reservoir cover is RL 3020 signal red painted and all components are in original colours. Special paint-work is an extra option. Temperature and Oil Level Switch To control the temperature and oil level of the reservoir, a temperature and oil level switch is available as an extra option. The contact opens falling short of the minimum oil level. Reaching the nominal temperature of 70 C, the second contact opens. Contact loading capacity: Oil level: 230 V C / 0.8 / 60 V Thermostat: 230 V C / 0.5 Socket according DIN Terminal configuration: 1 = Oil Level, 2 = Temperature, 3 = Combined PE = Masse 2 Pressure Relief Valve The pressure relief valve is integrated into the basic Valve lock. the maximum pressure range is set by the manufacturer according the model code. The system pressure can be reduced to the required performance on site. PE 1 3 Pressure Gage ll groups are supplied in series with spring-tube and glycerine filled pressure gage. The actual pump pressure in P (system pressure) is indicated. The range of the pressure gauge is 0 to 250 bar. Electric wiring and controls On demand, we supply the power units with complete electric controls including the wiring as an option. -8-

9 Initial Start-up and Maintenance General Practices The power units supplied are tested for functions and performances. It is not permitted to exceed the service pressure indicated on the identification plate. This brochure represents the scope of supply of this modular power units and does not include any other documentation. documentation exceeding this brochure can be ordered separately according the requirements. Warranty The general warranty regulations of VSM (Swiss Manufacturers ssociation) are accorded. Power Unit Mounting The compact power unit HK has to be screwed solidly on a flat surface. Keep a careful watch on the sufficient supply of cooling air for the electric motor. Power unit outlets have to be executed with flexible hoses. Pressure Fluids The power units are designed to use mineral oils according DIN part 2. Other pressure fluids can only be used after consultation of the manufacturer. The viscosity classes ISO VG 22 to ISO VG 46 have to be selected, depending on the operating conditions. Fill hydraulic fluid only through a filter with the required minimum filtration rate. To assure a trouble-free function of the system, an oil-quality 16/13 according ISO 4406 is required. Check oil-level before initial start-up. Electric Wiring The electric wiring of the complete system has to be conform to the local regulations and can only be executed by an authorised expert. Please watch the directional arrow, connecting up the electric motor. The incorrect direction affects a short-time failure of the hydraulic pump. Operating Periods The HK compact power units are designed for short time operating. The operating period depends on the service pressure as well as on the heat, resulting of the flow, passing through the pressure relief valve. Watch the maximum oil-temperature of 70 C, which has not to be exceeded. HK compact power units, used in continuous operation, have to be provided with an oil heat exchanger after consultation of the manufacturer. Extern Leakage Fittings can loosen due to hydraulic loads and should be controlled periodically. Tighten fittings only after switching off the pressure. Defective tubes and hoses have to be replaced immediately. Fluid Change Depending on the operating conditions, the fluid change has to be carried out after each 2000 to 4000 operating hours. n adequate oil maintenance and a periodic oil analysis by the supplier, allows a significant extended change period. Filter Replacement The Spin-on filter has to be changed the first time after 100 hours of operation. Further filter replacements can be combined with the fluid changes, e.g. after 2000 operating hours or at the minimum, once a year. Replacement Spin-on-Element: HYF 50 10Q O Instructions in ccordance with the EU Machine Directive 2006/42/EG; Manufacturers Declaration: Hydraulic power units are in the understanding of the EU machine directive not proper machines and can not be labelled with the CE-label. The supplied subassemblies are manufactured in conformity with the harmonised standards DIN EN 982, DIN EN 983, EN ISO12100 and EN Commissioning is not allowed until it has been ascertained that the machine, in which the subassemblies are to be installed, complies with the provisions of the EU Directive.
