1 Berewood Primary School Governors Berewood Primary School is an Academy sponsored by the University of Chichester (multi) Academy Trust. The constitution of the Local Governing Body is identified within the Scheme of Delegation and includes staff and parent governors, who are elected to their positions with a four year term of office, members appointed by the Directors of the Trust or Governing Body, also with a four year term of office, co-opted members appointed by the Directors of the Trust with a term of office of one year and the head teacher who is an ex-officio member. Mr Graham Olway (Chair of Governors) Appointed by Directors Graham Olway has lived in Waterlooville for 25 years and his children all attended local schools and he wanted to contribute his time and experience to a local school. He has a wide variety of experience in the education sector having worked for the Department of Education and also in various roles with Hampshire, Portsmouth and West Sussex local education authorities. He currently manages school place planning and the capital programme for West Sussex County Council. In 2013, Graham was awarded an MBE for his services to Education after serving for six years as National Chairman of the Education Building Development Officers Group (EBDOG). He is a lifelong supporter of Arsenal FC but also follows Accrington Stanley FC, as well as being actively involved in geocaching.

2 Mr Steve Davis Appointed by Directors Steve hails from Shrewsbury and after graduating from the University College of Wales he trained as a Chartered Accountant in Cardiff qualifying in He then spent two years as an Audit Manager in New Zealand. On returning to the UK Steve moved into the commercial sector and has worked for a number of well known businesses. For the last ten years he has been Finance Director of a national IT business based in Hampshire. Steve used to play cricket for his local village in West Sussex before helping coach his son s junior football side. That was some time ago as his son graduated from the University of Surrey in Steve also has a daughter who is currently studying Ancient History at Exeter University. For photo and biography, please follow this link: Mrs Margaret Harding Appointed by the Governing Body I have lived and worked in the area since I am a retired class teacher and SENCO who is convinced of the need for schools and families to be partners in children s education to achieve the best outcomes and have a great interest in every child being able to access the best way of learning for them. I have four grown up married children, all educated at local schools and colleges and fivesoon to be six grandchildren who teach me something new every day! My interests include singing with a local community choir and improving my classical guitar playing.

3 Mrs Pam Mundy B.Ed, M.A. Appointed by the Governing Body Pam is a highly experienced international consultant, keynote speaker and writer. Previously a teacher (experienced in working with children from 0-18) and Head teacher, she is also a serving Ofsted Inspector. She recently held the position of Interim Chief Academic Officer for Knightsbridge Schools International and was previously Director for Quality Assurance and Professional Development for the World Class Learning Group, based in Houston, Texas. She also worked with the National College for School Leadership as Lead Associate for Early Years, working with Early Years Teaching Schools, representing the National College at National and International conferences and also led out on the National Children s Centre Leadership Network. She sits on the Advisory Board of the Family First Group of Schools, Bermuda. Pam is a passionate advocate for teaching, learning and leadership and as an Early Years specialist understands the significant impact that the earliest years have on children s lives, learning and their future world. She provides professional development for a wide range of schools, settings, government agencies and Ministries of Education nationally and internationally (most recently in China, South America, South Korea, South East Asia, Brunei, Africa, the UAE, Singapore, Indonesia and the United States). She is also a freelance consultant for the BBC and Channel 4 television on a range of educational and on line programmes for Early Years and believes that as the artist Paul Klee said Childhood is a Dream where EVERYTHING is possible!

4 Mrs Sally Nelson (Staff Governor) Appointed Sally Nelson has been a teacher in Portsmouth and Hampshire schools since 2004 following graduating from University of Chichester with a BAHons in Primary Education. She has been at Berewood Primary School since it opened in 2014 teaching mostly in key stage 2. Sally has 2 primary aged children and she enjoys spending time with them, her family and friends. Mike Overall (Parent Governor) Elected by the Parents I am a parent governor with two children, one is currently in Year 2 and my youngest is three years old. I believe that all children, not just my own, should receive an education that is both enjoyable and inspiring, allowing them to achieve their full potential. It gives me a chance to help and oversee that our school maintains the highest standard of education and resourses, with the best and safest environment possible for the children. As a parent who is a Company Director, I feel my range of skills and experiences are valuable in supporting my role on the Finance and Resources sub committee.

5 Mrs Sue Patrick (Head teacher) Ex-officio member Appointed Sue Patrick began her teaching career in London, working in Lewisham and Peckham, before moving to teach on the Isle of Wight. She has lived and worked in West Sussex since 1994 as a teacher, deputy head teacher and, for three years, as a Numeracy Consultant supporting the development of mathematics learning in schools across the county. Prior to taking up her current position as head teacher of Berewood Primary School in April 2014, she was the head teacher of Jessie Younghusband Primary School in Chichester. Sue has two grown up children and enjoys walking, scuba diving and spending time with her family and friends. Rev John Thompson Appointed by Directors John was appointed to the governing body at the outset of the school s development in early John has a dual-role. As well as being a Baptist Minister in Waterlooville, John has been given a remit to develop the community on Berewood as a representative of all the local churches as a community minister. John leads a monthly Messy Church at the school and has been involved in a number of charity initiatives with the school. John had 16 years in IT prior to going into Christian ministry giving him a broad perspective on life. John enjoys walking, running, sailing, and playing musical instruments. He is married to Lisa and they enjoy sharing their passions with their four children.

6 Mr Jason Vigus (Parent Governor) Elected by the Parents Jason has lived in Waterlooville for 10 years and has two young children. He joined the governing body in 2014 as a parent governor to be more involved in the local community & help contribute towards ensuring that both his and many other local children have the opportunity to receive an enjoyable and excellent education at Berewood. Jason has an IT background, although is currently managing a Finance team for a Canadian web hosting company! He enjoys travelling (occasionally - not too much!), but is happiest with a good book or on a sunny day out the family. Mrs Elaine Woodard (Community Governor) Appointed by the Governing Body Elaine joined the governing body in 2014 as one of the first governors. Elaine is a professional accountant with many years experience of both the public and private sectors and brings her experience in that field to the governing body as well as also being involved locally in the community in several areas. Elaine adds, I am a mother and grandmother and have a real understanding of the long term benefits of a good education, and conversely how falling behind in the early years can seriously harm a person s chances in life.
