1 Kid s Ten Days of Prayer 2016 Abide in Me Sing: Choose any of your favorite songs or a prayer song: SAMPLES Pray: Before we read the Bible, we ask God to help us understand it. Read: During the next ten days, we will be studying John 15:1-17 Apply it: Take a few moments to analyze the Bible scripture of today: IDEAS Pray: Remember, you can ask God for anything! Isn t that amazing?

2 1. I am the True Vine before you read your Bible: Dear God, thank you for Your Word. Help me to understand what I read. Make me a doer of Your Word. I love You. In Jesus name, amen. Read: John 15: 1, 2. Can you read it three times? Good! Look for pictures of a grapevine. You may check for grapes in the refrigerator. What do you see? Can you see how they are connected? Think about how a vine grows and how important it is for the branches to be connected to keep it alive. Remember: Jesus is the true vine, His Father is the vinedresser, and you are the branch. Apply It: You can use a journal or a small index card to write about your understanding of what you just studied. Make a note or draw a picture about it. : Dear God, thank you for wanting to be connected with me. What an honor! Please help me to be connected to you. Please show me how. In Jesus name I pray, amen. 2. Clean Because of the Word before you read your Bible. Read: John 15: 3, can you read it 2 times? Yes! Why do we clean something? Because it s dirty and we need to use it again! Clean is the opposite of dirty. Why do you think Jesus tells us You are clean because of the words which I have spoken to you? The Bible is His Word, and it tells us about repentance, confession, and being forgiven, and yes! After we are forgiven, we are clean. It does not matter what we did or said, if we confess to Jesus and ask Him for forgiveness, He will do it. We will be clean! His Word, His Promise, says so! You need only to believe and accept it! Apply It: Write in your journal or card about your understanding of today. Maybe you would like to write a special thank you note to Jesus, or draw a picture about the Bible verse from today. :

3 3. Abide in Me before you read your Bible. Read: John 15: 4. Would you like to read it 3 times? Great! Can you find out what the word abide means? The dictionary says: To remain; continue; stay. Wow! Jesus is asking for us to stay with Him, to continue with His friendship, and to remain His children. He loves you so much that all he wants is to abide in you, every day, all the time! How do we do that? By doing exactly what you are doing right now! Praying to God, reading His Word, and being ready to share His good news! Remember what happens with the branches if they are not connected to the vine? They will not grow or be able to produce any fruits! Apply It: Write or draw a picture of what you ve learned today. : 4. Ask What You Desire : : Remember to say a small prayer before reading your Bible. Read: John 15: 5-7. What are some of the things you wish you could do? What do you need in order to do them? Maybe you are not old enough, you don't have any money, or your wishes just seem impossible. There are many things that look impossible to us, but if they are good things for us and we abide in Jesus, we can do them, we can have them, we can accomplish them! Don't you love the promise in verse 7: You will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. Just amazing! Apply It: Write your desire, your dreams, your impossible. :

4 5. Be My Disciple Read: John 15: 8. You may want to re-read yesterday s reading. Do you need the meaning of the word "disciple"? A disciple is a learner; a follower; that he be like his teacher. Don't you like that! Jesus gives us the great opportunity to be like him. That is great news, don t you think? Not only that, but when you become His disciple, you are doing something great. You glorify our Father God. You will be living, talking, and helping like Jesus. Because you will be like your teacher Jesus Christ. Apply It: Write the characteristic you admire the most about Jesus. Ask Him to accept you as His new disciple. 6. Remain in My Love Read: John 15:9. Read it 3 times. Try to memorize it. I love this portion of the Bible. Jesus loves me as God the Father has loved him, what an honor! But what is love? Read 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 and discover what real love is: patient, kind, never gives up, never loses faith, and more. You may want to mark/underline in your Bible your favorite characteristic of love. Read John 15:9 again. Apply it: Cut a piece of paper into the shape of a heart, and write your favorite characteristic of love on it. Put it in a place where you can see it every day. Ask God to help you to show your love to others in that way.

5 7. My Father s Commandments Read: John 15:10. Jesus loves His Father and loved to obey His commandments. What is your favorite commandment? Read Exodus 20: Do you know some of the Commandments by memory? It is a good idea to memorize them. Which of the 10 Commandments is hard for you to keep? For me, there are several, but I ask God every day to help to be obedient and to love Him. When you pray today, ask Jesus to help you to love Him more and to obey His commandments. Read it again: John 15:10 Apply it: On the front of a small card write your favorite commandment, and on the back of the care write one that is hard for you to practice. Keep it on your pocket. Every time you see it, pray about it. 8. Your Joy will overflow! Read: John 15: Joy! I think of balloons, confetti, a baby s smile, music, and being together with my children. And you? What is joy for you? What thing do you enjoy doing? Most people think joy comes from doing things or having things, but real joy is knowing that God the Father and His Son Jesus love us very much! And, because we love God, we obey Him. Jesus told us all these things so that we may be filled with joy. Apply It: Take a paper plate or cut out a piece a paper in a circle. Draw a happy face on it, and write: Love + Obey = JOY. Every time you see it, just smile!

6 9. You Are My Friend Read John: 15: How many friends do you have? We love friends. There are lots of thigs we like to do with our friends, life is better with friends. Sometimes we confuse people we see every day at school, church, or work with true friends. A friend knows you very well, likes you even when you are upset or sad. A friend loves you and enjoys very much playing with you or just spending time with you. A friend helps, listen, and looks out for you. Jesus said that we are His friends! I love our Friend Jesus! Apply It! Think of someone you know who may not have a friend. Try to be a good friend to that person. 10. Love Each Other Read: John 15: I love that God s Word is full of good promises for us. It make me so happy to know that Jesus chose me and you, to loves us and to be our Friend. Knowing that we ask for whatever we need in His name and His Father will give it us, is just amazing. He asks us to do a very simple thing: Love each other. We want to love each other, but sometimes it is not easy, right? It is not easy when we are disconnected from the True Vine. Every day we to need to find time to be connected to Jesus, but how? Just what you have been doing for the las 10 days: sing and pray to Him, read the Bible, love Him and obey his commandments. You will have so much joy that it will be easier to love others. Remember: Jesus Loves you very much! Apply It: Write down a thank you note to Jesus for being such a perfect friend.
