2 Agenda of World Flooring Forum 2016 The report released by China National Forest Products Industry Association (NFPIA) really shed the light on status quo of China wood flooring market. The report showed that compare with end of last century, the Chinese average expenditure in home decoration increased for 5 times, but its spending in wood flooring product increased for 1.5 times only. Meanwhile, production and sales of wood flooring in 2015 barely reached 4 hundred million square meters which is far less than 7.4 billion square meters made by ceramic tile. The dramatic decrease in price and quantity reflect adverse circumstance which China wood flooring industry has been suffering with. In contrast to that China s raising middle and upper classes are already buying more AUDI than anywhere in the world. Their growing taste for interior home décor is expected to create a similar, new demand for wood flooring as well. Forest resource was seen as another strategic resource beside oil and mineral due to its rarity and almost non renewability. How to reflect the true value of wood flooring product, regain lost market and obtain new customers are the key issues that industrial players must deal with. Production of tailor made product on a large scale might become possible by introducing most cutting edge cyber technologies such as big date, cloud computing, artificial Intelligence and artificial reality into traditional manufacturing industry, meanwhile the production cost might dramatically decrease along with maturity of manufacturing facilities and processes. Does this picture shed light on development trend of China s flooring industry? Although the cyber technologies mentioned are during early stages of its development, but plausibility discussion has been started within flooring industry. This topic will gather together the leaders of leading China s and overseas flooring brands, cyber companies and manufacturing facility producers to discuss if this is the future of flooring industry. Furthermore the technical discussion on future requirements on different types of bamboo floorings in Europe is in the final stage. It is planned to publish a draft for a harmonized standard

5 with safety relevant properties and a product standard with usability properties. New European product standards for laminate floor coverings will be published with EN 13329:2016 and EN 15468:2016 in the near future. Several requirements were changed (e.g. regarding the test of laminate floor covering with underlay) or added (e.g. requirements on the connection system) in these standards. Dr.-Ing. Four kind of constructional materials as wood, plastic, steel and stone, the wood is only constructional material producing more oxygen than it consumed during its entire life circle and is good for human s healthy as well. But, how to make customers aware of those features, especially integrate flooring products with esthetics and culture deserve us to think out it. CNFPIA has launched a campaign giving flooring companies a same identity to promote wood flooring as a first choice when customers have decoration need. What is the status quo of this campaign and what overseas societies do in promoting the usage of wood flooring among customers?
