1 North Caroina Big Game Harvest for As reported by hunters to wid - ife cooperator agents, by teephone and on the Internet. Why shoud a hunter go out of his way to report the turkey gobber he just harvested? How many deer were harvested during the season here in North Caroina? Was the tota deer harvest for this period greater or ess than this figure for ast season? How is this information used? These are questions that often surface dur ing discussions of North Caroina s big game reporting system. The big game reporting system is a procedure that requires a wid turkey, boar, bear and deer harvested by hunters here in the state be reported to a widife cooperator agent, by teephone to the Widife Resources Commission via a to-free number or by the Internet. This proce dure became man datory in the fa of Successfu game management is based on many factors and data, incud ing big game harvest figures. The more that game man - agers know about popua tion trends and numbers, the easier it is for them to make decisions that affect seasons and other reg u atory matters. Sound big game man - age ment must be the resut of combined efforts of hunters and the staff of the Widife Resources Commission. Whie the figures in this report represent the reported harvest and may vary from the actua harvest, they are the best such figures avaiabe at this time. Pease do your share to see that future reports of this nature are as compete as possibe by reporting your big game harvests and by encouraging your feow sportsmen to do the same Back Bear Harvest by Region COASTAL BEAR MANAGEMENT UNIT Tota Tota Tota Tota Tota Bear Tota Bear County Mae Femae Unknown Bear Game Lands Other Lands Beaufort Bertie Baden Brunswick Camden Carteret Chowan Coumbus Craven Cumberand Currituck Dare Dupin Edgecombe Gates Greene Haifax Hertford Hyde Jones Lenoir Martin Nash New Hanover Northampton Onsow Pamico Pasquotank Pender Perquimans Pitt Robeson Sampson Tyrre Washington Wayne Wison Coasta Tota 1, , ,792 Percent of Tota 59% 41% 0.2% 5% 95% Due to space imitations, not a the harvest data coected by the Widife Resources Commission can be presented here.
