(School of Art & Art History will not be held responsible for works that remain after this time).
2 USF School of Art & Art History Centre Gallery Oliver Gallery 34th Annual Student Art Exhibition and Art History Research Paper Competition February Thursday Friday, 11am 6pm. All entries due at Centre Gallery Marshall Center Room 2700 Entry cards and 3 copies of the paper must be dropped off together. NOTE: -There will be separate categories for graduate and undergraduate submissions, so please specify your status on the entry card. -Entry card must accompany each paper -Do not include your name on the paper -List the title of your paper as the title on the entry card -Papers on any art history topic will be considered -Papers must have been submitted for a class during 2009 Calendar year. -Texts must be 8 pages typed using 12 pt. font. -You must submit three copies of your paper without grades or comments. NOTE: Before you submit your paper, you should make any corrections that were suggested by your professor. That is to say, your essay should be revised based upon the feedback you received the first time you submitted it for a class.
3 USF School of Art & Art History Centre Gallery Oliver Gallery 34th Annual Student Art Exhibition and Art History Research Paper Competition 1. ELIGIBILITY: Any student currently enrolled at USF or its regional campuses during the 2010 Spring Semester. All works submitted must be original and completed during and not previously submitted to a USF Annual Juried Student Art Exhibition. 2. MEDIA: Drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, graphics, ceramics, mixed media, or video. (Videos must be submitted in DVD format). Artists must provide ALL equipment for their multimedia works (computers, projectors, televisions, DVD players, monitors, sound systems, amps, etc. including spare bulbs for projectors). No cosmetic changes to the gallery will be permitted (painting of the walls, floor, etc). Students absolutely may not install any artwork being submitted; however, they may submit a schematic, drawing, or photographic documentation for consideration. 3. SIZE: Due to exhibition space limitations, all wall pieces cannot exceed 8 x 8. All 3-dimensional work may not exceed 8 in any direction. We cannot guarantee Video submissions will be projected. Video submissions longer than 5 minutes may not be able to be juried in their entirety. 4. ENTRY FEE & RULES: Artworks: $10.00 for a single entry, $15.00 for two ORE=true All application fees must be paid online before the work is dropped off. Each Student may submit a maximum of two works; only one work/paper may receive an award. Collaborative works by USF students are considered in addition to individual works. The School of Art & Art History reserves the right to place limits on the amount of collaborative works one artist may submit. Collaborations between USF students and non-usf students are allowed, however only the USF student may receive an award.

REGISTRATION: Entry card and identification labels (available at Centre Gallery website, Centre Gallery, Oliver Gallery and the School of Art and Art History office) must be completed including name, address, , and USF ID Number and submitted with the work. Artists accepted into the exhibition will be required to provide a social security number or they will not be eligible for awards. Attach work identification label to the upper right hand corner on the back of the entry. All artwork must be delivered to FAH 280 at the School of Art & Art History on Thursday or Friday March 4 & 5 from 11am until 6pm, suitably prepared for exhibition. Two-dimensional work must be ready to hang. Entries with wet paint, flimsy frames, or framed in a substandard manner will not be accepted. 6. NOTIFICATION OF ACCEPTANCE OR DECLINATION: A list of accepted and declined works will be posted at Centre Gallery and Oliver Gallery on Wednesday, March 10th at 10am. A list of accepted works will also be available on the Centre Gallery website. All artists must pick-up declined works between 11am- 6pm on March 15th and 16th. The School of Art & Art History will not be responsible for works that remain in the space after 6pm on March 16th. 7. JUROR: Sean Miller is an internationally exhibiting multidisciplinary artist. His work explores situations, practices, and information that sustain and define existing power structures in contemporary art and politics. Obsessive activities, absurd scenarios, and extreme aesthetics are utilized in Miller s work to produce objects and events and to question existing categorical and organizational methods within these hierarchal structures. Miller s primary artwork involves his role as the Founder/Director of the John Erickson Museum of Art (JEMA). JEMA is an ongoing conceptual artwork as well as an operational, six-year old, location variable museum. In addition, Miller is one of the original founders of SOIL Gallery/Collective in Seattle, Washington. Currently, Miller is a Florida-based artist and a Senior Lecturer at University of Florida where he teaches the Workshop for Art Research and Practice. Sean Miller s selected exhibitions include: ACC Galerie (Weimar, Germany), Deitch Projects Art Parade (New York), National Museum of Ireland (Dublin), Schalter Gallery (Berlin), Indianapolis Museum of Art, Contemporary Museum (Baltimore), Golden Thread Gallery (Belfast, N. Ireland), CoCA (Seattle), COCA (St. Louis), Post Gallery (Los Angeles), Howard House Gallery (Seattle), Galleria d Arte Moderna of Genoa, and UnimediaModern Contemporary Art (Genoa, Italy). Miller's work has been reviewed/published in New Art Examiner, Sculpture, Art Papers, New York Times, The Nation, Baltimore Sun, NVTV Broadcast Interview (N. Ireland), LA Weekly, and the Seattle Times. 8. JUDGING: All entries will be judged together regardless of media or style. The juror will be solely responsible for selecting each work for the exhibition and designating the award winners. Installations may not be set-up in their entirety by the artist for the juror's benefit, as it may be necessary to move the work prior to the judging process. Artists should provide a few key components of large installations along with Photographs or documentation of how the work appears when fully installed, and meet with a member of the Gallery exhibitions staff when submitting the
5 work in question. Artists may not dictate where their work is to be presented in the gallery. 9. AWARDS: Awards will be presented Friday, March 26, at 7:00 pm at USF CAM followed by the opening reception. For more information please visit:

All DVD works must be labeled with length (time), sound, color or b/w. Complete all information requested on the individual cards* that are to be affixed to the back of each artwork submitted. 2. DO NOT COMPLETE: 3. PAYMENT: The number in the right hand corner of the entry card or on the individual card attached to the artwork. DO NOT SIGN THE CARD at this time. Fees are used to underwrite the costs of the Juror, the Event Coordinator, the Exhibition Brochure and promotional/informational materials related to the Exhibition. Application fees must be paid before submitting work at the drop-off location. All application fees must be processed online. For more information please visit: 4. INSURANCE/ SALE PRICE: Unfortunately the School of Art & Art History cannot provide any insurance for work that has been entered into the exhibition. All of the work will be handled with extreme care and a gallery employee will be present at all times during the gallery hours. The School of Art & Art History cannot be held liable for any damage that may occur. The price listed for each work will be included in the exhibition checklist, and made available to viewers requesting that information. The gallery will provide prices to interested patrons as well as the artist's address and/or phone number. The gallery does not retail a commission on sales.
