3 Statement of Need: The management of breast cancer continues to evolve and clinicians need to stay abreast of new treatment modalities as well as their impacts on concurrent therapies and clinical outcomes. This symposium is designed to provide clinicians with the tools needed to promote effective communication with their patients regarding prognostic indicators, recommendations and the interaction of Neoadjuvant therapy. The introduction of Neoadjuvant therapy impacts the radiological imaging, surgical options, and oncological management of a patient with breast cancer. The didactic lectures and panel discussion will enable participants to refine their knowledge and be able to implement individualized therapeutic options for surgery, medical oncology/ hormonal therapy and imaging based upon National Guidelines (i.e.nccn/asco) and TNM stage of disease. Program Objectives: All Northwell Health CME activities are intended to improve patient care, safety and outcomes. At the conclusion of the conference, the participants should be able to: Describe the evolving role of targeted therapies when added to conventional therapies in the treatment of breast cancer. Assess Neoadjuvant Therapy s effects on nodal disease and implications for further therapy i.e. chemotherapy or surgery. Review and Discuss the variances and applicability of the imaging modalities to evaluate and monitor the effects of Neoadjuvant Therapy. Identify the surgical options for converting to breast conserving surgery from mastectomy and from inoperability to operability of breast disease. Recognize the advantages of coordinating care when guidelines based on analysis of tumor pathology are applied. Describe the synergistic effect of interdisciplinary clinical relationships in the management of mutual patients. Target Audience: Physicians, Breast Surgeons, Medical Oncologists, Radiation Oncologists, Radiologists, Ob-Gynecologists, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses, Fellows and Residents, Breast Health Navigators.
