1 Course Outline Course Title: Come and Get It! Nutrition and Physical Activity for Lifelong Health Course Duration: Twenty 50-minute sessions Course Goal: The goal of this course is to give students a basis of knowledge and skills to make healthy lifestyle choices that support their whole well-being, and encourage them to make positive changes in their nutrition and physical activity health behaviors. Course Objectives: After participating in this course students will Have specific exercises they can participate in to enhance their health through physical activity. Have the knowledge to make healthy choices around what they eat. Be able to make decisions around healthy lifestyle choices. Have the ability to set future goals Have a plan to maintain the practices of this course. Lesson Title Objectives Activities Pre- Lesson Course Overview Understand the content and requirements of the course. Human Scavenger Hunt One Two Take a Look at Whole Health Nutrients and the Body Be able to identify the various components of whole health and will understand that in combination these components contribute to a person s overall well-being. Know how to work with resistance bands and perform some exercises targeted at the upper body. Be able to identify key nutrients the body needs and describe their function and importance. Understand that bodies are affected by the types of nutrients taken in through food and drink.
