1 What's Up Willowville? Willowville Elementary School 4529 Schoolhouse Road * Batavia, OH * May fax Dear Willowville Parents and Students, Your children are AWESOME! I know you already know how wonderful they are but I have had the honor and privilege over the last several weeks well, make that the last several months witness kindness, encouragement, hard work, and effort! Thank you for encouraging your child to do their best, providing motivational words, sending in treats and sending them to school every day! With everything I have observed, I am looking forward to our final State Report Card which will be available late in August. We are headed into the home stretch with a lot of exciting activities for the students. Among those events are welcoming our new kindergarten students for next school year, Right to Read week, COSI on Wheels, field day for each grade, and the Memorial Day Parade. We are in great need of volunteers, especially for two very exciting events, COSI and the Memorial Day Parade. There are other opportunities for the month of May where assistance is needed. Please contact Mrs. Prewitt if you are able to help provide these opportunities for our children. Right to Read week is the week of May 7 th. Several grade levels will enjoy reading a novel during silent sustained reading, sharing their reading books with others, and creating advertisements. There are many more small activities planned for the students to enjoy. I would encourage you to listen to your child read, read with your child or read to your child every day; what a wonderful way to spend quality time! Blast into Kindergarten will be Wednesday, May 16 th. We will run two sessions; 9:30 and 12:00. Please encourage your neighbor who will have a child attending kindergarten next school year to attend one of these sessions even if they have not enrolled at this time. The Willowville staff would like to express their appreciation for Mrs. Barb Clark who will be retiring this school year. We thank her for her service, expertise and knowledge provided over the last several years. She deserves recognition and praise for her enthusiasm and dedication to the students, parents and colleagues whose lives she has touched. It has been an honor and pleasure to work with her and she will be greatly missed. We wish her the best as she continues new adventures with her own family and friends. Please continue to check your child s Friday folder for information and academic progress. Thanks to all of the seniors who submitted essays, they were all well written, it was a very close race. Lost and Found Our lost and found is overflowing. If your child is missing a jacket, coat, hat, etc., please check our lost and found. 4 The 35th annual Memorial Day parade May 25th at 12:45 pm. Parents and family members are invited to come and march with us. Family members who served in the military are also invited. This is a KG B day. All KG A students and parents are welcome to join us for the parade, however a parent/guardian MUST remain with the student during the parade. There will be no parking allowed in the front of the school for the event. Please think about walking or car pooling that day.
