SMS Registration Overview SMS Reminders is a module that allows users to send SMS messages to mobile phones from within MedicalDirector Blue Chip.

2 SMS Registration Overview SMS Reminders is a module that allows users to send SMS messages to mobile phones from within MedicalDirector Blue Chip. The SMS messaging service itself is provided by a third party company called MessageNet. To activate SMS functionality, a Practice is required to register for SMS Reminders within Blue Chip. Step 1 Initialising SMS Registration within Blue Chip Overview 1. Initialising the SMS Registration process connects MedicalDirector Blue Chip with the MessageNet Online Registration Request Form. 2. Once your registration is submitted, the Practice will receive a verification to confirm. 3. Then, after verifying the registration in MedicalDirector Blue Chip, SMS functionality is enabled. Procedure 1. Users with Change Practice Setup permission (as granted via BC Secure) will be presented with the SMS Registration prompt upon opening MedicalDirector Blue Chip. Each qualified user will continue to receive this prompt until registration is completed, or unless the prompt is disabled by ticking the Do not show this message again to any user check box. Clicking Yes on this prompt will initiate the SMS Registration process. Clicking No will close the prompt and return you to the MedicalDirector Blue Chip main screen. Alternatively, you can initiate the registration process at any time from the MedicalDirector Blue Chip main screen by selecting SMS > Setup SMS Reminders Health Communication Network Limited 2

3 2. Regardless of how you initiate the SMS Registration, the SMS Reminders Setup window appears, and presents you with the Registration Details tab by default. 3. Click the Register for SMS button. The SMS Registration window appears. 4. Enter a Username and Password, and confirm the password. Click the OK button to continue. 5. The MedicalDirector Blue Chip branded MessageNet webpage will load the Online SMS Registration Request Form. 6. The Practice Name and Practice ID will automatically populate from your MedicalDirector Blue Chip installation. All other details must be entered, including Account Type (prepaid SMS credit required) and a Credit Type for Payment Details. Please Note: You will require access to the address provided in the registration form for the confirmation. 7. After receiving the confirmation email, in MedicalDirector Blue Chip select SMS > Setup SMS Reminders > SMS Reminder Setup screen. 8. Click the Verify Registration button.

4 7. After receiving the confirmation , in MedicalDirector Blue Chip select SMS > Setup SMS Reminders > SMS Reminder Setup screen. 8. Click the Verify Registration button. If registration has been successful with MessageNet, the Registration Complete check box will be ticked, and the Change Password button will be enabled. 9. You will be prompt if SMS Reminder verification is successful. This prompt also advises to setup Proxy settings if required. Please Note: Not all Practices require proxy settings to be entered. Please refer to Step 2 for further information. 10. Click the OK button to complete the registration process. If unsuccessful, an error prompt will appear. This does not change applied SMS Reminder Setup information. Click the OK button to return to the Registration Details screen. To fix the error, click the Change Password button to create a new password, and then click the Save button Health Communication Network Limited 4

5 Step 2 Setup of Proxy Server Details If a Practice uses proxy server to connect to the internet, MedicalDirector Blue Chip requires authentication. The SMS Scheduler provides Proxy Server details to be entered into MedicalDirector Blue Chip to enable scheduled SMS Reminders. 1. Access via SMS > Setup SMS Reminders, this will display the SMS Reminder Setup screen. 2. Select the SMS Scheduler tab. Tick the Use proxy for SMS Scheduler check box to enable the additional data entry fields. 3. Enter the proxy details and then click the OK button. If successful, a standard proxy setup success message appears. If unsuccessful due to an incorrect Port number, an error appears.
