6 ITS ARCHITECTURE SERVICES The general objectives of the services must be to offer: Reduction of road casualties. Improving the safety Increase of effective road capacity without new construction. 7 SAFETY SERVICES OBJECTIVE Increase the safety on the road through ITS to reduce the accidentally. (In the phase of operation) Receive information of each vehicle about its position, speed and the distance from others vehicles. Send information to the motorist about incidents on the road. Detect on time incidents and accidents with a low false positive rate. Improve the time of the response of the emergency services. Accurate date of the meteorology. Madrid, 3 de febrero de 2009 / 7

For example in tunnels Develop of algorithms of locations of vehicles, including inside tunnels SafeSPOT GNSS Interact information in real time with the motorists (Communications V2I I2V) about incidents and accidents in the highway: New methods of DAI (Detection Automatic Incidents) Distance between vehicles Anomalous directions High Speeds New methods of DAA (Detection Automatic Accidents) To prevent congestions Study the relations between the meteorology and the accidentally. Develop and validate a model of evaluation of risk of accidents in real time. Define proceedings of action in case of an accident detected ecall Management the emergency services. Planning of the routes Prevent congestion and Stop&Go situations, controlling the emissions of the vehicles at the same time. Dynamic pricing. Interact with the motorists the traffic information. 10 DYNAMIC MOBILITY SERVICES Research in new methods to obtain traffic metrics. Matrices origin/destination. Level of Service (new methods of detection the levels of service more robust and in real time). Calculation of routes. Management the traffic with information more efficient and exact. Research in new methods to detect congestion and to avoid situations of Stop&Go. Detection the queues in highways. VSL (Variable speed limit). Reduce contamination and congestion through dynamic pricing. Pricing depending on the level of emissions, the hour, the capacity, New systems for the interaction with motorists. Provide information of the traffic in real time to motorists. (Communications I2V) To Know the destination of motorists. (Communications V2I) To avoid cognitive overload. 11 DYNAMIC MANAGEMENT ROAD STATUS To Monitor the state of the road to optimize the actions of reparation and maintenance. Develop sensors to measure the damaged road (Relation with safety). Embeded sensors in the road (During the phase of construction of the road) No embeded sensors in the road. Computer vision. (During the phase of operation). Through the motorists (V2I) (During the phase of operation) Define new models to predict the useful life in the roads.
