Download the college visit form from the Naviance welcome page This form must be signed by a parent, Mrs. Martin or Ms. Zimmerman, and turned in to Mrs. Matherly in the Senior Academy office at least one day PRIOR to your campus visit. 16 How to Apply- APPLY EARLY!
Pay Attention to Deadlines & Important Dates For Indiana University:
Pay Attention to Deadlines & Important Dates For Purdue University:
Common Application WHY USE IT? Once completed online or in print, copies of the Application for Undergraduate Admission can be sent to any number of participating colleges (over 400 in the U.S.). Purdue REQUIRES that students apply via Common Application! This allows you to spend less time on the busywork of applying for admission, and more time on what's really important: college research, visits, essay writing, and senior year coursework.
Applying via The Common Application
Indiana University & Purdue University Applicants! IU and PU both require official SAT and ACT scores to be sent directly to them from the College Board and ACT. If scores have not already been sent to these schools, students may make their requests to have them sent through the online student account they created when they first registered for the SAT or ACT. Please do not miss deadlines due to missing test scores!
Recommended Fall Testing Dates SAT October 11, Registration Deadline September 12 ACT September 13, Registration Deadline August 8 ACT info & test dates: SAT info & test dates: Many colleges require SAT/ACT scores to be sent from the testing company take advantage of the send score report feature Be sure to take ACT Plus Writing test Most colleges require one or the other
Free Resource PrepMe PrepMe is found on the home page of Naviance Family Connection
Biography For Letters Of Recommendation The biography is very helpful for teachers in writing a letter of recommendation. It also assists in the counselor school report form that is sent to colleges.
Requesting Teacher Letters of Recommendation
*Teacher letters of recommendation are sent to colleges through Naviance. Hi Mr. Hacker, can you please write me a recommendation letter to Indiana University? I would need it in approximately 3 weeks. I just completed the "Biography For Letters of Recommendation" to help you. I understand if you are unable to do this for me, so please let me know either way. Thank you! Important Note: Students need to inform teachers if they are applying to any college via the Common Application because a Common App Teacher Evaluation will also need to be uploaded to Naviance in addition to the letter of recommendation.
Colleges I m Applying To Click on the Unknown link and select yes or no for applying via the CA. If the school the student is applying to only uses the Common App, he does not need to do anything.
Adding Colleges to your Colleges I m Applying To list Click on +add to this list and select the college(s) you are applying to. Click lookup to find the name of each college you plan to apply to. Select a college from the College Picker list or you may use the Search Options on the left by typing in the name of the school and selecting it.
Requesting Transcripts in Naviance Students must mark TWO things in Naviance: (1) REQUEST the transcript (see below) (2) MARK that you have applied (see below) *If students do not complete BOTH of these items, their counselor materials will be not be sent to the colleges they have applied to. *Students SHOULD NOT request a transcript until they have actually applied online to the school(s).
Students must tell us that they have applied AND request the transcript To Request Transcripts: To Mark you have applied:
By indicating that your student has applied, and by requesting the transcript, we can now send all materials to the college or university.
Update Admissions Decisions To Keep Us Informed
Tips for Students when applying Don t procrastinate- Apply early in the fall Keep close track of all deadlines and admission requirements- they vary from college to college (check admissions sites) Spell your name exactly the same way on all your application materials and SAT/ACT registration Make sure your address reflects your maturity Keep a copy of everything you send in, including online applications & other written or correspondence Check your regularly for communications from colleges Create an online application status account with the colleges you apply to Look up SAT/ACT score delivery requirement of the school you re applying to Let me know if you want me to send an updated transcript to colleges/universities See me if you need your transcript for a scholarship you are applying for
Scholarships This is where we will post scholarship information received in the office. is a good online scholarship database Brownsburg local scholarships will become available in the spring Research schoolspecific scholarship criteria and deadlines via the admissions & financial aid websites
