2 Holly Days At NMS Faculty and staff at Northwestern Middle School participated in Holly Days. Different themes were assigned each day to celebrate the spirit of Christmas. World Flag Winner At ZES Congratulations to Allyson Oneal, shown with her winning flag design.

3 NES Enjoys A Visit From Louisiana State Police The Louisiana State Police recently made a visit to Northwestern Elementary School to share with students the many different areas of police work. Seatbelt safety was explained with the help of Beauford, the dummy, and a rollover demonstrator. LSP K-9 officer Sergei was a huge hit among the students. Sergei demonstrated the many commands he has mastered. We would like to thank the State Police for spending their time with us and keeping us safe! City Of Zachary Visits With CMES Mrs. Lovenia Williams from The City of Zachary Public Works Department recently visited with Mrs. Perrodin s class at Copper Mill Elementary School. The visit covered the recycling process and the importance of recycling in our community. Students were also presented with recycling begins with you pencils as a thank you for managing the recycle run at CMES each week.

4 Beta Induction At NMS Congratulations to the students inducted into the NMS Beta Club! We are very proud of you! NMS Teachers Present At LACUE Katie Petitto, Rachel Pearce, and Katie Rodgers, were accepted to present at the LACUE (Louisiana Association for Computer Using Educators) conference on Friday, December 9, They presented on behalf of their department, about how to use the digital program "Storyboard That. Congratulations! We are proud of you all!

5 The Zachary Gleaux Run Is Almost Here Don t forget to register for the 2017 Zachary Gleaux Run! The run will be held on Friday, January 6 6:00 p.m. There is a competition between the schools for the most participants. The winning school will receive a Free Dress Day and a picture in the newspaper. Registration for the Fun Run is only $5 and the 5K begins at $10. A portion of the proceeds will go to support the physical education departments of the ZCSD. Registration can be done We can t wait to see you all there! 6 CMES Choir Performs At Nottoway Plantation Hats off to the Copper Mill Elementary School Choir for their recent performance at Nottoway Plantation in White Castle, Louisiana. The students did an amazing job. They concluded their evening with viewing the bonfires on the levee and a fireworks show. ZCSB Recognitions The Zachary Community School Board was honored to recently recognize the following accomplishments. CMES Math Olympiad Participants, Top 25 Winners On November 12 th, Emma & Kellan participated in the Louisiana Math Olympiad along with 167 other students. They were required to answer 58 math questions from various grade levels. Both students are also members of the CMES Junior Beta Club. Congratulations! Emma Todd placed 23 rd out of 168 students Kellan Conachen placed 25 th out of 168 students. 7 ZCSB Christmas Card Contest Winner Congratulations to Amy ria Ford, a 6 th grade student at CME! Amy ria loves to draw, but most of all loves to paint. She is pictured with Mr. Devillier and CMES Art teacher, Mr. Darryl Alello. ZHS teacher & students travel to Gressier Haiti Ms. Jamie Byrd and Zachary High School students; Mallory Charlet, Grace Dry, Easton Adams, Brooklyn Squires, Jake O Brien, Arden Tiffee, Connor Gibbon, Brynn Daniel, Zachary Wall, McKenzie Sullivan, and Kendall Boulton traveled to Gressier, Haiti, over the Thanksgiving holiday, to deliver supplies and funds to Respire, Haiti.

8 ZES Tacky Christmas Sweater Contest Zachary Elementary School recently held a Tacky Christmas Sweater Contest with Mrs. Marquez, Ms. Jones, and Mrs. Marchiafva winning.
