2 STABILO LUXE VENETIAN BLINDS Stabilo Luxe 80, 80-F Venetian blinds - External blinds using 80mm wide adjustable and retractable slats. These blinds have the highest degree of control over the widest possible range due to the large range of adjustment of the slats. There are two kinds using flanged or non-flanged slats. In both cases the slats are made of flexible aluium utilizing a burned-in painting method for surface treatment. The flanged version accommodates flanges on both edges. Due to this the wind resistance of slats is increased and wider blinds can be installed. The non-flanged or flat slats are slightly cambered and are flexible. Strong winds can bend the slats, but due to their flexibility they regain their original shape. The two systems mainly differ in their application s scope. The flat slatted system takes up significantly less space above the window. Guidance of slats can be achieved using either guide rails or cables. The guide rail is an extruded aluium profile in which the guiding pins are running. These pins located on the end of the slats. In case of the cable guided system the cable guides the slats via oval pressed in holes. The rail guided system provides a more rigid guidance but the rails still can be seen in retracted state. The horizontal position of slats has been ensured by using a bottom rail, which is heavier than the slats. Flanged and non-flanged slats The blinds can be operated using a hand crank or a motor. A single hand crank or motor can operate multiple blinds utilizing a clutch mounted on their shafts. The motor or the manual drive system placed into head rail, which is on the top of the blind system. The drive transmitted to the rotating units via an appropriately stiff aluium shaft. These units are moving the slats in the vertical direction and also tilting them. The head rail and the mechanism within protected using an aluium cover. Using this with a cable guided system can make the blind almost invisible on the facade in the retracted state. The non flanged or flat slats are slightly cambered and they are extremely flexible. Their material is a special 5754 H48 ALMG3 aluium alloy. Strong winds can bend the slats, but due to their flexibility they regain their original shape. Guidance of slats has been done using a cable system. The slats mostly guided on both of their ends. When using wider blinds, above 2.75m we install more wires. The cables are guiding the slats via oval holes on their ends. The materials of these cables are stainless steel coated with UV resistant plastic sheathing. This ensures a smooth and noiseless operation of the slats. Stabilo Luxe 80-F There is a special feature on cable guided Stabilo Luxe 80-F system. The punching of the oval holes also followed by an asymmetric deformation which results in an increased slat deflection when compared to a plain oval hole. This way the light can be shut off to a larger degree. There are further special perforations on the slats. One of them is a double horseshoe shaped punching which supports the ladder string. The other is a hole for the retracting string between these horseshoe-shaped holes, keeping the retracting string in the centre of the ladder string. There is another type of hole for the retracting string. This hole is flanged with its own material, this way the slat is not damaging the retraction string. As opposed to using a plastic flange ring there is no UV resistance problem. Flat slat Wire tensioning consoles The retraction strap made of high tensile strength material; it is either 6 or 8mm wide. The width always based on the size of the blind. To anchor the cables, we use different type of consoles. This depends on the installation. The consoles are adjustable, this way the ideal vertical position of the cables ensured. This results in a 4mm diameter enclosed section. Due to this the wind resistance of the slats increased and wider blinds can be built. There are guide profiles riveted in the slat ends. These are running in guide rails. The guide profiles made of UV resistant plastic; therefore the sun doesn t damage them. The guide rails lined with two rubber inserts each. These insert has a dumping effect on the noise generated by the wind or the slats. Stabilo Luxe 80 We use different type of consoles for the mounting of the guide rails which depends on the kind of installation. These consoles can support the guide rails on the side or from behind. They are adjustable; this ensures the perfect vertical position and distance from the facade. The lifting strap made of high tensile strength (1000N) terylene and is 6 or 8mm wide. The width always based on the size of the blind. These straps made using special weaving techniques. They are UV, stretch, wear, and shrink resistant. Guide rail consoles The hole for the lifting string is flanged using its own material, this way the slats cannot damage the string. As opposed to using plastic flange rings there is no UV resistance problem. Guide rails The flanged slat system has a bigger retracted height; therefore its appearance is more striking. This effect is further enhanced by the visible guide rails. This can be emphasized even more by installing the system in front of the facade.
