3 3 ACADEMIC POSITION AT THE FACULTY OF THEOLOGY AND RELIGIOUS STUDIES ISLAMIC THEOLOGY I view of the orgaizatio of the major Islamic Theology ad Religious Studies withi the Master of World Religios programme which will begi i late September 2014, cadidates for this positio should be characterized by their iteratioal orietatio, a excellet research profile ad educatioal experiece i oe or more fields of Islamic theology. I the field of Islamic theology, the cadidate must develop a research programme ad achieve high-quality iteratioal research results, as well as obtai research fudig ad build atioal ad iteratioal co-operatios. From a Islamic-theological perspective, the cadidate must coduct research ito oe or more fields i Islamic theology: Koraic studies, hadith studies, (history of) theology, Islamic law ad ethics. I doig so, the cadidate must focus both o the sources of Islamic theology ad o the cotemporary pluralized Europea ad Flemish cotext, i dialogue with iteratioal developmets. The cadidate must aspire to close itra- ad iterdiscipliary collaboratio withi the Faculty of Theology ad Religious Studies ad with other faculties. Educatioal Duties The cadidate must both provide high-quality educatio i Dutch i a umber of disciplies of Islamic theology (Kora, hadith, kalam ad fiqh), ad be explicitly dedicated to the quality of the programme as a whole. Through educatio, the cadidate must place scietific focus o the curret state of Islamic ad theological research, hermeeutical focus o the diverse traditios of iterpretatio, ad seek to strike a balace betwee global ad cotextual perspectives. The cadidate must supervise Master s theses ad take a active role as the co-supervisor of doctoral studets. The cadidate must also be resposible for the orgaizatio, represetatio ad promotio of the major Islamic Theology ad Religious Studies i the framework of the Master of World Religios programme.
