8 A few words about PUEB THE POZNAŃ UNIVERSITY OF ECONOMICS AND BUSINESS is one of the oldest, most prestigious schools of economics in Poland. Since 1926, we have been continually developing higher education and ensuring high quality of scientific studies and constant development of research infrastructure. We prepare numerous economic expert reports and implement innovative projects. High-quality education, which we have provided for years, allows our students and graduates to successfully face the challenges of a dynamic labour market. The innovation of our research and educational methods has been confirmed by numerous rankings and accomplishments of our students and employees. We combine our care for the highest quality of education with the development of cooperation with other countries and broadly defined business practice. The PUEB Main Library is one of the most popular academic libraries in Poland, as evidenced by the results of the survey conducted by a consulting company KPMG Poland in The Facebook users voted for their favorite library, and we came second. The book collection consists of about 470,000 publications books, magazines and special collections, which occupy more than 15 km of shelves.

12 July 1925 Adoption of a resolution on the establishment of commerce-oriented institution of higher education. Its director becomes prof. dr hab. Leonard Glabisz. October 1938 Poznan School of Economics becomes the Academy of Commerce The School is renamed the Academy of Economics and receives the right to confer doctor and doctor habilitatus degrees. 12 October 1926 Official inauguration of the first academic year at the Poznan School of Economics The Academy is nationalized and renamed the Higher School of Economics. It is one of the tallest buildings in Poznan and the most characteristic element of the urban landscape. 27 December 2008 The Academy is upgraded into a University and receives its name Poznan University of Economics. 14 Did you know... The Educational Centre of Electronic Services is a new building of the Poznań University of Economics and Business. It can be compared to the Collegium Altum tower in terms of size. Its cubature (total area of 15km²) is 75% of the cubature of the tower. It is not another skyscraper though. It has five levels above ground and two additional below ground.

16 The Poznań University of Economics and Business is divided into five faculties and 14 fields of study. The scope of research and educational offer are one of the best among Polish schools of economics. The University also offers many competitive research methods and a diversified education system adapted to the market. Faculty of Economics The Faculty of Economics offers the highest level of education in the field of micro- and macroeconomic problems in the economy. The excellence of studies at the Faculty has been certified by the Committee for Scientific Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Classes are closely related to the theory of economics, social economy, public relations, socio-economic statistics and demographic basis for economic development. 18 Faculty of International Business and Economics The teaching and research activity of the Faculty responds to the changes occurring in the global economy and the transforming needs of the education market. Students receive thorough and profiled economic education in the field of international economic relations, international business, international logistics and issues of European integration, combining management knowledge, macroeconomics and an understanding of microeconomic issues. Tomasz Rynarzewski Fields of study Tourist Economy International Economic Relations Faculty of Informatics and Electronic Economy In addition to a thorough education, students of this faculty gain advanced knowledge of modern quantitative methods in economics and business, optimization and forecasting of economic phenomena, mathematical modeling of socio-economic processes and the construction of scenarios for their development. The research results of the Faculty are highly appreciated by domestic and foreign research centers and business practices, as evidenced by the numerous awards and honours. Faculty of Commodity Science The Faculty of Commodity Science educates highly qualified specialists in the field of quality of products and services. Strong relationships with business practice result in multiple expert reports, opinions, analyzes and studies commissioned by business entities and institutions of state administration and justice. 20 Faculty of Management The Faculty of Management explores the major problems concerning the functioning of Polish, European and world economy. Students acquire knowledge necessary for diagnosing and resolving problems related to basic functions and processes of management: planning, organizing, motivating, control and coordination. Long-term cooperation with business and economic practice allows the Faculty to train specialized personnel, ready for the challenges of prestigious positions in companies and national and international corporations, and in the EU, state and local administration. 22 Did you know... The Poznań University of Economics and Business is the best runner among higher education institutions in the country. Rectors and researchers are members of PUEB Runners Club and regularly compete in running races. So far, they have taken part in the biggest European marathons in Berlin, Amsterdam, London, Athens, Edinburgh, Bari, Istanbul and Dubai. The history of running events at the PUEB dates back to 1980s. The Economics Five Race is a continuation of this tradition and has been organized annually since 2011.

24 Did you know... The Collegium Altum is one of the tallest buildings in Poznan m, including the television mast. Due to the fact that the building is very recognizable, its shape was used to design a gadget promoting the Poznań University of Economics and Business a Jenga Collegium Altum game. 25 The Poznań University of Economics and Business offers first-, second- and third-cycle studies, MBAs, and postgraduate programmes. Two modes of study are available: full-time and part-time. Learning outcomes are presented according to the European ECTS standard, which allows for building an international study programme. A distinguishing feature of the programmes offered by the Poznań University of Economics and Business is that teaching economics and management is combined with the most modern solutions in the field of information technology, law and social sciences. The Poznań University of Economics and Business provides education, according to the models of managerial education, using the current state of research, and the most effective teaching methods. Focus on the practical dimension of learning, student internships and permanent cooperation with business and foreign academic centers give PUEB students an opportunity to enter the job market with a degree from a prestigious university. Every year, over 300 PUEB students and employees go on various kinds of student and scientific exchange. A wide range of educational and scholarship offers is available to PUEB students at every stage of their education: Erasmus + MBA programme (US, English) PhD in English more than 50 postgraduate courses scholarships and maintenance grants Graduates of the University are the best managers in the country, not only in government administration, but also in public and private companies. 28 International cooperation Strong position of the Poznań University of Economics and Business in the world of science allows for concluding agreements and contracts of cooperation and exchange with prestigious research centers around the world. Partners of PUEB are academic institutions from nearly 40 countries. A wide range of cooperation with foreign centers gives PUEB students and employees access to the current research and scientific achievements of other countries. Thanks to that, they can continuously improve their level of knowledge and skills, which directly influences the quality and the course of their scientific and professional careers. Joint initiatives undertaken withinthe framework of international programmes, intergovernmental and interuniversity agreements enable exploration of the most current research topics and exchange of scientific insights. Long-term cooperation results in regular internships, trainings, courses and scientific events (seminars, symposia, congresses, conferences). Many foreign students are interested in visiting our University. Thanks to the Erasmus programme and bilateral agreements, we were host to 184 international students this year (an increase by 25% since the 2011/2012 academic year). Most of the students came from Germany, Spain, France, Turkey and Ukraine. We have created six units responsible for joint initiatives with the economic sphere. Increasing cooperation with companies allows us to educate the best and most sought-after professionals. Cooperation also means ongoing development for PUEB by, among others, expanding the educational offer to include classes of business practices, and providing trainings and internships for students and researchers.
