7 5L **Full sheets can be folded in half and glued in can still write on the top. This article is an example and would be folded inside a half fold. The students could mark the text and use the top half of the paper to reflect, summarize, prepare questions for a Socratic seminar, etc.** For Your Reference can still use with INBs 5R

8 6L The Hotel Room Hotel Room 6R Initial Thoughts: Summary: Three guests check into a hotel room. The clerk says the bill is $30, so each guest pays $10. Later the clerk realizes the bill should only be $25. To rectify this, he gives the bellhop $5 to return to the guests. On the way to the room, the bellhop realizes that he cannot divide the money equally. As the guests didn't know the total of the revised bill, the bellhop decides to just give each guest $1 and keep $2 for himself. Each guest got $1 back: so now each guest only paid $9; bringing the total paid to $27. The bellhop has $2. If the guests originally handed over $30, what happened to the remaining $1? **Teacher goes through example for correct information acquisition here!** Reflection:

9 7L Tutorial Cover Page Tutorial Reference Sheets 7R **Can layer pages or use graphic organizers!** Tutorials are EVERY Tuesday and Thursday (unless told otherwise) TRF Process: Tutorial Request Form (TRF) MUST be done prior to Tutorials *No Excuses to NOT be prepared!* (unprepared students will be sent to ISS to finish TRF) Review notes and material you are working on to come up with your initial question Try the problem on your own or think through it a little on your own Check your resources to help you out: book, notes, Internet, peers Record the steps and discussion points Identify your actual POINT OF CONFUSION (where you get stuck) o If you can do it all and no longer have a problem, start over! Maybe look at word problems on the same topic or bring to a higher level of discussion (compare/contrast, what if ). Write your point of confusion as a higher level question about the concept (not that particular issue or problem). REFLECTION: After the tutorial, complete the reflection THAT NIGHT! (Should be at least ½ page long when completed) Paragraph 1: Reflect on your learning: o What did you learn in the tutorial session (think about everyone s questions not just yours)? How did you learn it? Why is it important to real-life? Meaningfulness of tutorials? Paragraph 2: Reflect on the tutorial process: o Think/Write about What was your role? Who was the shining stars in the group and why? What role did the tutor fill? How can the group process of tutorials be better? What can you do better in tutorials? When ABSENT or missing tutorials for any reason 1. Complete TRF 2. Do research and find the answer to your question a. Use Internet, textbook, notes, parents, teachers, friends, AVID elective, or any other resources to help you find the answer b. Log everything on the notes page for your question 3. Write your reflection based on your own personal tutorial session.
