28 Dr. Ranko Stefanovic Associate Professor of N.T., Andrews University In view of the symbolic character of Revelation, it is difficult to determine whether the 1000 years of Satan s imprisonment is a literal or figurative time period. Although the figurative meaning fits into the context of the symbolism of the book, the literal meaning is equally possible.

30 Postmillennialism The 2 nd coming of Christ will occur after a literal 1000 years of prosperity and peace. Popular during 19 th century but died out after World War I.

31 Amillennialism Official view of RCC, Eastern Orthodox Church and some Protestants. The millennium is a symbolic time period between the 1 st & 2 nd comings of Christ. The binding of Satan is something that took place at the cross.

32 Premillennialism The millennium is a literal 1000 years and begins at the 2 nd coming of Christ. Official view of SDA Church and some Protestants. There are 3 kinds of Premillennialists: Historic, Dispensational and SDA.
