Thales s solutions Signalling systems Urban transport: The SelTrac CBTC communications-based train control system, developed by Thales 25 years ago, is the technology of note used by metro operators for the construction of new lines and the upgrade of existing networks. It is in service on nearly 80 lines in 40 major cities worldwide and used by 3 billion passengers per year. Main line rail: ETCS is the European train control standard. Thanks to this standard initiated by Thales, trains can cross national borders safely, without needing to change systems or train driver. It is operational within and outside European borders. Integrated communication and supervision systems Thales creates intelligent mobility solutions that enable passengers to better control their traveling time in all circumstances. They include passenger information on platforms, as well as personalised information on smartphones, passenger safety, management of stations Ticketing systems Thales s offer provides for the equipment of one metro line as well as the implementation of multi-modal and multi-operational interoperable systems at a national level. Ticketing systems allow for smoother travel in stations, as well as a reliable data collection and distribution and distribution of resources amongst operators. 4 4 Thales s key references Urban transport Dubai metro Inaugurated in 2009, the Dubai Metro is one of the longest driverless metro systems in the world. It is equipped with Thales s global offer including the CBTC signalling, ticketing, telecommunications and supervisions solutions. London Underground signalling After the modernisation of the Jubilee and Northern lines successfully completed for the London Olympics, Thales is now working on the oldest part of the underground: the Circle, District, Metropolitan and Hammersmith & City lines. Embedded video protection in Paris Thales has supplied its on board video surveillance solution for the equipment of the RATP buses, as well as the SNCF s RER trains operating in Ile de France. Nationwide e-ticketing in the Netherlands and Denmark Travellers in the Netherlands and Denmark can journey anywhere in the country on any mode of public transport (trains, buses, trams and metros) using a single smart card thanks to the ticketing system deployed by Thales in both countries. These nationwide schemes are unique in the whole world. Mainlines North-South Railway (NSR), Saudi Arabia A turnkey solution for signalling, supervision and communications, security, fare collection systems and associated services. NSR is the world s largest single implementation of ERTMS for a new network. Lötschberg and Gotthard High Speed Base Tunnels Signalling, Switzerland AlpTransit Gotthard Ltd Thales s ETCS Level 2 solution is in operation for the Lötschberg Base Tunnel and is currently being implemented for the new Gotthard tunnel - the world s longest rail tunnel running along 57 km under the Alps. High-speed lines signalling in Spain In Spain, Thales has deployed its ETCS signalling and rail telecommunications solutions on more than two thirds of the high-speed network. Roads Brisbane free flow tolling Thales s electronic non-stop tolling guarantees revenues and improves travel times, with lower emissions and fewer accidents. Ticketing for urban car parks As French market leader in public car park management systems, Thales has now equipped close to 600 car parks in France, public car parks (in city centres, at Paris Roissy Charles de Gaulle and Orly airports and on the TGV East line) and worldwide (intermodal parking facilities in Turin, Dubai and South Africa).
