1 HOCKEY SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE CHALLENGE Aim: As well as improving your fitness this block, you will also have developed your skill level and knowledge of hockey. This challenge aims to test your skills & knowledge in a team competition. Skills Test Date: Test 1 - Tunnel: One player makes a tunnel, by standing with their feet astride. The other player passes the ball alternatively with front and reverse stick through the tunnel without touching their partner s feet. Count the number of times the ball successfully passes through the tunnel in 30 seconds. Score.. Test 2 Dribble & lift circuit: Count the number of circuits (to the nearest quarter) negotiated in 30 seconds. Score.. Test 3 Open stick dribble: Dribble the ball round each of the cones using only the open front stick at all times. Count the number of cones negotiated in 30 seconds. Score Test 4 - Passing: Stand 5m away from the 1m wide goal. Push 6 balls through the goal, in a maximum of 20 seconds. Count the number of goals scored. Score. Test 5 Push shot at goal: Start on the edge of the circle with 6 balls. One ball is dribbled into the circle and pushed at the goal from the penalty spot. All 6 balls are shot, within a time limit of 30 seconds. Score Test 6 Receiving a pass: Count the number of balls successfully returned to the marker out of 6 attempts within 30 seconds. Score

6 Dance Challenges Throughout your dance block so far, you have been introduced to dancing terms which can help describe how dance movements are being carried out. Draw a line below between the dancing terms on the left and their meanings on the right. Dynamic Members of a group performing a movement or series of movements one after another. Coordination Members of a group carrying out a movement or series of movements at the same time as each other. Timing Copying the movements of the person facing you. Canon Carrying out a movement or series of movements at different levels (i.e. high or low), speeds (slow or fast) and flows (i.e. fluent or fragmented). Mirroring Members of a group carrying out different movements at the same time. Unison The choice, judgement, or control of when a movement should be carried out. Harmony The ability to use different parts of the body together smoothly and efficiently. Practical Task: Using your imagination, you are going to create a dance routine which includes some of the elements we have already discussed: Dynamics Coordination Timing Style (i.e. canon, mirroring, shadowing, unison and harmony). As you create your dance, tick each of elements that you feel you have used within your routine.
