2 Positiiviset ry, HivFinland rf - Is a patient and peer organization and the only association for people with HIV in Finland. - The fundamental idea is by people with HIV for people with HIV. - At least half of the board has to be HIV-positive (8 board members and a chairperson) - 5 full time employees - Is funded mainly by Finnish Slot Machine Association (RAY), Ministry for Social and Health, pharma & some municipalities - Positiiviset ry, HivFinland was founded in 1989, 26 years this year - Approximately 40 active volunteers
3 Our main purposes are - to promote the well being of HIV-positive and their families. - to ensure that the rights of HIV-positive people are taken into account on different levels and participate in the forming of HIV policies in Finland. - to empower people infected or affected by HIV/AIDS and help people infected with HIV to improve their quality of life. - to work against discrimination and prejudice. - to raise awareness and to offer correct and unprejudiced information about HIV and AIDS. - In focus also on Sexual health, MSM, prevention, Hep C - Advocacy in 2015: Quality of life, Social services, (de)criminalization, psychiatric services
4 Who do we meet and why? - Support: Contact to 300 persons, 75 new last year - Drop-in center in Helsinki, approximately visits / year
