3 Program Eligibility: About the Internship for Credit Program Minimum GPA of 2.5 Have completed at least one full year enrolled in the College of Business Administration Have completed the Student Professional Development Program Completed 150 hours of internship work per three credits; up to three credits per term * Neither a parent nor relative may serve as the site supervisor for an intern. * Some degree programs may have additional requirements (see accounting attachment). How to Apply: Fill out pages four and five of this application Sign pages six and seven Have your employer supervisor review your application and sign page six Find a faculty member to be your faculty supervisor Have your faculty supervisor review the application and sign page six After the faculty supervisor signs, to get registered for the class take the application to: Cindy Longoria, Academic advisor Rm. 112 Cynthia.Longoria@tamuk.edu Once registered in Blue & Gold, please make note of the university payment deadline. It is the student s responsibility to meet the payment deadline and avoid being dropped from the internship course. During the Internship: Your faculty supervisor will discuss with you his or her requirements for during the internship, but it s also a good idea to keep track of what you are learning and any projects your faculty supervisor requires you to complete. Keep a log of the hours and dates you work (if they don t have a recorded time sheet). Keep in touch with your faculty supervisor, letting him or her know what you are learning during your internship. End of Internship Requirements: Internship grades will not be assigned until the student completes these three steps and submits them to the College of Business Administration academic advisor: 1. A two to three page paper describing your internship experiences and how it helped you achieve your goals, OR complete assignment given to you by your faculty supervisor 2. You and your internship supervisor must complete an internship final evaluation and submit it directly to the College of Business Administration academic advisor 3. Submit a copy of your time sheets to your faculty supervisor 4. Send a thank-you letter to your employer supervisor 2

7 Cancellation and No-Show Policy DECLINE CANCELLATION Failure to contact the employer to decline the arranged internship 48 hours prior to the start date will be considered a no-show. Refer to the no-show policy below. If an emergency arises and a candidate must cancel an internship work day, it must be within 48 hours prior to the date. The candidate is required to call the academic advisor at to notify her of the delayed starting date. During the internship, keep track of any missed work days or sick days for the final evaluation of participation hours. NO SHOW When a student fails to contact the employer 48 hours prior to start date and he or she does not show up for the first day of internship, it is considered a no-show. The candidate is required to prepare a letter of apology to the company and must submit the letter to the academic advisor no later than 24 hours after the missed day. The academic advisor will forward a copy to both the faculty supervisor and the dean of the college. The academic advisor will retain a copy for the students record. The student must explain why he or she declined the internship position, or why he or she did not properly cancel that work day to the academic advisor. If the student wishes to continue the internship, it has to be approved by his or her supervisor and the student has to make up for the hours missed. If the student no longer wishes to participate in the internship, he or she must get it dropped from his or her schedule by filling out an add/drop form and submit it to the Office of the Registrar. If done before the automatic Q date each semester, the student will receive a Q that will not affect his or her GPA unless the student has a total of more than six drops in his or her academic career. After the automatic Q date, the instructor is required to sign off on the add/drop form and may recommend a grade of Q or F for the course. Depending on the drop date, some tuition may be refunded.
