3 pdm brand PDM Brand is a design company focused on furniture and home textiles. The company has been operating since 2013 and is located in Bangkok, Thailand. PDM stands for Product design matters stating for the significant impact that the design work has on our daily life. Company s ideology is to design products with longevity through appearance, durability and function. In the lead of the company is awarded designer Mr. Doonyapol Srichan who works with his partners, both Thai and international in cooperation with local manufacturers, craftsmen and various project based designers. 3

4 mat collection PDM Mat collection has born with the idea of renewing the customary idea of mats by enhancing the durability, appearance and feel. In the product development we focused to produce the quality that meets the needs of modern life and refreshes the image of traditional Thai mat. This quality is created through high density weaving, finalisation with binding and designing distinctive patterns to fit with contemporary living. The mats have been awarded several times since their launching. The latest is Good Design Award for Stride from Tokyo, Japan in

8 inari DETAIL 1:1 130 mm inari is inspired by Lappish folklore and mythology, which believes that everything in the nature has a soul from rocks and trees to every living being all carrying knowledge and wisdom within. This idea is reflected to the design through diverse stripes with differing patterns and structures followed by folkloristic influence in the appearance. 8

16 katve DETAIL 1:1 130 mm KATVE is a Finnish word meaning the shade. The design is inspired from the shadows that the tree trunks, branches and leaves make on a sunny day creating a cooling spot to relax. After all behind this strong and sharp appearance hides a story from the nature. 16

20 bon bon DETAIL 1:1 130 mm bon bon (bonbon) is a French word for sweets. The pattern is plain, but the hint of playfulness in the color palette and weaving represent more than one can see. BON BON is the joy in small moments. 20

28 features DOUBLE-SIDED Each mat can be used both sides up. In most of the mats the sides are also with opposite coloring. This offers more possibilities to create different impressions to the space with one and the same product. UV RESISTANT In the material production for the weaving the UV-inhibitor is added to protect the colors against the sun. With this treatment the colorfastness is guaranteed for a one year outdoors. COLOR QUALITY Polypropylene is dyed with environmentally friendly solution dyeing where the color pigments become a part of the fiber before the it is produced to a yarn. This method brings the material excellent colorfastness to light, washing and rubbing compared to other fibers. RECYCABLE The weft yarns for weaving are produced from recycled and recycable polyprobylene. Also the hem and product label are polypropylene, which makes the product 100% recycable. WATERPROOF Mats are 100% made of synthetic fibers where the weft yarns are having solid surface. This is why the mats reject water making them to get dry fast after the wash or rain. For the same reason dirt doesn t easily get absorbed to the fibers enabling easy cleaning. 28

29 features MOLD RESISTANT By rejecting water and dirt the material is uninviting growing medium for mold and fungal spores. This however requires that the mat is dried after getting wet and cleaned regularly so no organic matter offer nutrition for the mold to grow. ALLERGY FREE Mats do not include any natural fibers or rubbers which may cause allergic reactions. With the solid structure the yarns have also less surface to the dust and the dust mites to stick on. Regular vacuuming either dusting is still recommended especially with asthmatics. HIGH DENSITY PDM mats are woven with 30% higher density compared with the traditional mat. High density weaving gives the mat firmer structure, smoother surface and better durability not to mention the more elegant appearance. DETAILED In the product development we have paid special attention to the details from woven structures to finalisation. Textile professionals design the weaves exclusively to each pattern to create an unique feeling to the mats. In addition we have chosen particularly wide binding for the mats which enhances the impression of a high-end product. 29

30 care and wash WASH Handwash with water maximum of 60 degrees using mild detergent. Dry in shade. NO bleaching, NO machine wash, NO pressure washing, NO ironing, NO dry cleaning, NO tumble drying. STAINS Remove the stains locally with wet cloth or sponge and mild soap (for example dish washing liquid). It is the easier to remove the stain the fresher it is. To remove a dried stain leave a wet cloth on it a while before cleaning it. CARE To be able to enjoy the product in good condition for long, the following needs to be considered: Roll the mat for transportation and storage. Don t fold. Avoid sharp objects, open fire, glue and paint around the mat. Avoid stretching, tearing and hard rubbing. Don t drag furniture or other heavy objects on the mat. Don t throw cigarette butts nor stub them out on the mat. 30
