E2020 is used at Algonac High School for students to recover lost credits, but also for students to have additional options for elective courses during the school day. E2020 classes are semester-based: You must get 100% of your course done within the semester that the course is on your schedule! E2020 classes are self-paced: While your instructor will monitor your progress and give reminders of your course deadline, you are responsible for pacing yourself to get your class completed within the semester!
E2020 classes are completely virtual: All coursework is on-line Mrs. Brutyn will be available to support/facilitate if there is an issue with your course, but your grade will be based solely on how you do on your on-line coursework! E2020 classes receive a letter grade on your report card and transcript: The threshold for passing e2020 elective classes is set to 0% - you can receive anywhere from 0-100% on any assignment, just like in a regular class. The letter grade you earn at the end of the semester will be what goes on your report card and transcript. This letter grade will affect your GPA just like any other course.
Time Management: It is critical for success in any class to use your time wisely and to prioritize tasks so that you get things done on time. Time management is especially critical in on-line, self-paced classes like e2020 because there is not a teacher telling you on a daily basis what needs to be completed.
Digital Footprint: It is also critical for those who take on-line classes to understand the importance of your digital footprint. Every time you log into a computer, take a picture on your phone, post something on social media, order something on-line, etc - you are leaving a lasting record that can be traced, shared, copied, and is PERMANENT! Digital Ethics: It is also important to understand digital ethics. Every interaction you have on-line (web-sites you go to, pictures, texts, or posts that you make) will follow you throughout your life.
Your Muskrat 2.0 Project can be submitted to me in whatever format you choose make a video, create a Prezi, provide me with a detailed calendar indicating how you are going to utilize time management strategies, etc. Be creative! The 4 steps you will need to complete are listed below. Submit your project via to jbrutyn@acsk12.mi.us by September 3, 2013.
Step 1: After reviewing the orientation material at the beginning of this PowerPoint, list any questions you have for your instructor at this time related to your e2020 elective classes.
Step 2: Read the articles on the Resources page related to time management. Your presentation must answer the following questions: What are the 3 most important time management techniques you found in the articles? Provide specific examples for each of these techniques as to how you are going to work these techniques into your daily routine. What is the 1 time management strategy listed that you feel you will have the most difficult time with implementing? Provide a specific example on how you will implement this difficult strategy into your on-line course routine.
Step 3: Watch the videos on the Resources page related to digital footprint/digital ethics. Your presentation must answer the following questions: What are the 3 most important concepts you learned about digital footprints/digital ethics and how will each impact the choices you make? Google yourself look in both the web results and images. Is there anything in your digital footprint that future employers, colleges, etc would find troublesome or questionable? Indicate what career you plan on pursuing after graduation and what impact a negative digital footprint could have on this career.
Step 4: Provide a conclusion with the following components: Recap the most important things you learned about time management, digital ethics, and your digital footprint. Indicate if you have ever taken on-line or blended classes before (e2020, Moodle, etc ).
Four Time Management Tips for On-Line Students (article) time-management-tips-for-online-students Time Management for On-Line Learners (article) Digital Footprint (video) Understanding the Impact of Digital Footprints (video) What is Plagiarism in the Digital Age? (video)
If you have questions about your project or have any issues loading the articles or videos, please contact me: Jennifer Brutyn x3228 I look forward to having you in class in the fall!
