1 Appendix C: ADIOGAPHY CLINICAL COMPNCY QUIMNS Adopted June 1998 ditorially evised August 2001 here are core clinical competencies that all individuals must demonstrate to establish eligibility for A certification. his document describes the competency requirements for adiography that become effective January 1, hese requirements are in addition to graduation from an educational program accredited by a mechanism acceptable to A. he requirements listed are the minimum core clinical competencies necessary to establish eligibility for participation in the A adiography xamination. A encourages individuals to obtain education and experience beyond these core requirements. his document will be periodically updated to reflect changes in the requirements of professional practice. Students must demonstrate competency in all 39 of the mandatory adiological Procedures. At least 30 of the 39 mandatory adiological Procedure competencies must be demonstrated on patients (not phantoms or simulated). Students must demonstrate competency in at least 10 of the 23 elective adiological Procedures. lectives may be demonstrated on patients or phantoms or as simulations. In addition to the adiological Procedure competencies, the four General Patient Care competencies are mandatory. hese competencies may be simulated. A recommends that educational programs include a mechanism of continuing and terminal competency evaluation to assure students maintain proficiency during the course of the program. Competency demonstration should incorporate patient-specific variations such as age and pathology. he checklist should be used to record completion of competencies. he checklist should NO be sent to A. he Program Director s signature (and the authorized faculty member's signature if applicable) in the Verification Section of the Application for xamination attesting to completion of these requirements is needed. Competency equirement: Perform the adiological Procedures listed demonstrating appropriate: evaluation of requisition and patient assessment physical facilities readiness patient care and management equipment operation and technique selection positioning skills radiation protection for patient, self and others image processing and evaluate whether the resulting images demonstrate proper: anatomical part(s) alignment radiographic techniques image identification radiation protection
