How to log in to Bug Clu 1. Go to 2. Enter your usernme n psswor. 3. Clik Login. 4. The pupil will e tken to their pssport pge. Here, they lik on the Bug Clu logo. 5. After loing sreen, your homepge sreen will now pper. This looks ifferent epening on your yer group. 2

3 How to nvigte My ooks Yers F-2 This is the first sreen tht the pupil will ome to one they hve logge in. This will look ifferent oring to eh yer group. From this sreen, the pupil n lunh the e-ooks tht you llote to them, see the numer of Bug Points they hve ollete from ompleting quizzes n get help from the Bug Clu guie hrter. Clik My ug to hoose Bug Clu vtr. Clik on ug n then exit the pop-up. The pupil s hosen Bug Clu vtr will pper here. The pupil n see up to five of the e-ooks tht you hve llote to them. They n lik on ny of the thumnil imges to lunh the e-ook n tke the quizzes. When the pupil hs omplete n e-ook (i.e. they hve ttempte ll the quiz questions in tht ook), it will move to Books I hve re n will e reple y the next e-ook you hve llote, proviing you hve llote more thn five e-ooks n hve some in witing. (See pge 10 for how to llote e-ooks.) 4 How to nvigte My ooks Yers 3-6 This is the first sreen tht the pupil will ome to one they hve logge in. This will look ifferent oring to eh yer group. 5 How to lunh n exit n e-ook 1. Clik on the thumnil imge of the e-ook tht you wnt to re in My ooks. 2. A pop-up will pper showing you the e-ook you hve hosen. Yer F - Yer 2 Yer 3 - Yer 6 You n see the mximum numer of Bug Points tht re ville in the e-ook. The numer of Bug Points is me up from the numer of quizzes n the pupil s sores. The numer of quiz questions is shown y the numer of Bug Clu hotspots. Clik the ross to exit the pop-up n return to My ooks. 3. Clik Re ook or the ook over to lunh the e-ook. If the pupil exits the e-ook fter prtil ompletion (i.e. there re still some quiz questions whih hve not een ttempte), they will see the following pop-up. They n hoose to return to the e-ook to keep reing n omplete the quizzes or to ontinue to exit the e-ook. If the pupil exits the e-ook fter full ompletion (i.e. they hve ttempte ll the quiz questions), they will still see the elow pop-up ut the Bug Clu hotspots will hve sleepy hes. Yer F - Yer 2 Yer 3 - Yer 6 The pupil will see the numer of quiz questions represente y the numer of Bug Clu hotspots. The omplete quiz questions will e shown s sleepy Bug Clu hotspots. Clik the Bug Clu hotspot to lunh the quiz question. When the pupil hs omplete quiz question, the Bug Clu hotspot will hnge to sleepy he. 9 How to nswer quizzes The quizzes re gret wy to engge pupils n to motivte their reing through the olletion of Bug Points. As every quiz question is linke to n Assessment Fous, the results from the quizzes lso fee into your reporting sreens, proviing rel-time informtion on pupils progress. 1. Clik on Bug Clu hotspot within the e-ook to lunh quiz question. Clik to ply this uio. This uio will ply utomtilly for F-level quizzes. Clik Done when the quiz question hs een ttempte. A feek sreen will pper. Clik the ion to go k to the e-ook pge you were on. At Level 27-30, there re numer of preitive quiz questions. For these, this utton is intive until the pupil sumits their nswer.. The pupil hs three ttempts to nswer eh quiz question orretly. 2. If the pupil nswers the quiz question orretly, they will see positive feek sreen. Plese note tht the ug hrter n feek messge will vry oring to the yer group. 3. Clik OK to return to the quiz sreen. A green tik will pper next to the hil s nswer or nswers to show tht they hve got the quiz question orret. The Done utton will e greye out to show tht the quiz question is omplete. The Bk to the e-ook utton will flsh to show them wht to o next. 9

10 4. If the pupil nswers the quiz question inorretly on the first or seon ttempt, they will see feek sreen enourging them to try gin. For Level quizzes, this feek is speifilly relte to the question the pupil is working on. 5. Clik OK to return to the quiz sreen. A re ross will pper next to ny prt of the pupil s nswer tht ws inorret, n green tik will pper next to ny prt tht ws orret. The Done utton will e greye out ut will light up gin one the pupil hs selete nother nswer. 6. At Levels 1-26, if the pupil nswers the quiz question inorretly on the thir n finl ttempt, they will see feek sreen telling them tht they hven t quite got it right n sking them to return to the ebook. The Done utton will e greye out n the Bk to the ebook utton will flsh. At Levels 27-30, the pupil will e prompte to lik the Show nswer utton so tht they n see the orret nswer. 7. Some quiz questions re unmrke (i.e. o not require orret nswer). The pupil will hve one ttempt t these types of questions. The feek sreen will thnk them for their nswer. The next two pges explin how to nswer the ifferent types of quiz questions. 10

11 Selet n hek (Yer F - Yer 2) Use the rrows to selet wor or phrse to omplete the sentene. Dropown (Yer 2 - Yer 6) Use the ropown menu to selet wor or phrse to omplete the sentene. Mhine (Yer F - Yer 2) Pull the lever n then lik the letters to omplete the wor. Multiple hoie (All yers) Clik the lozenges to selet your nswer. Orering (All yers) Drg the imges or phrses into the orret orer. Selet n explin (Yer 2 - Yer 6) Clik on n imge n write n explntion for your hoie. 11

13 Comprehension (Yer 3 - Yer 6) The omprehension quiz questions re esigne to pture ler eviene of pupil s unerstning of the text they hve just re. The pupil n sve their work n ontinue to nvigte roun the ebook efore finlly sumitting their nswer to you. One the pupil hs sumitte their nswer, you will e le to view the response from the Reporting sreen (see pge 18). You n ssign mrk to the pupil (either re, green or mer). You then hve the option of whether or not to sen the mrk through to the pupil. You re le to omments if you wish to give the pupil some speifi feek. You o not hve to provie speifi feek the pupil will still reeive their rewrs n ontinue to move through the system. If you o hoose to provie speifi feek, n envelope will pper on the pupil s home sreen when they next log in to Bug Clu. The pupil n then ess your omments. 13

14 How to give feek on n e-ook When the pupil hs ttempte ll of the quizzes n hs lose the e-ook, they re invite to give their feek. The pupil liks on hppy, neutrl or unhppy fe to register their opinion on the e-ook they hve just re. Clik Finish to exit the feek sreen. You n see the numer of Bug Points tht the pupil hs ollete from this e-ook. These will e e to the Bug Points meter fter exiting the feek sreen. The Bug Clu hotspots will ll hve sleepy hes to show tht they re omplete. 14

15 How to reeive rewrs One the pupil hs omplete n ebook n ll the quizzes within it, the new Bug Points tht they hve ollete will e e to the Bug Points meter on the Home sreen. The pupil will see the level on the Bug Points meter rise n will lso see the numer of points s figure. One the numer of Bug Points rehes the top of the meter, the pupil will reeive rewr. (Plese note the meter is set t ifferent levels for eh yer group.) 16 How to view rewrs Yer F The rewrs t this level re estikers. When the pupil s Bug Points reh the top of the meter (every 20 points), they re offere hoie of two estikers. The estiker they selet will then go into the virtul estiker ook shown in My rewrs. The estikers inlue rnge of hrters n ojets tken from the Bug Clu e-ooks. Yer 3 Yer 6 The rewrs t Yers 3 to Yer 6 re mixture of online gmes n essories for the pupil s hosen vtr. When the pupil s Bug Points reh the top of the meter (Yer 3 every 75 points, Yer 4 every 80 points, Yer 5 every 85 points, Yer 6 every 90 points), they will e given hoie of n essory for their vtr or, every so often, n online gme. The essory they selet will then go into the virtul wrroe shown in My rewrs. Pupils n ply roun with how their vtr is resse, giving it ifferent ht or pir of shoes, for exmple. Pupils n lso ess their rewr gmes from My rewrs. Yer 1 The rewrs t this level re ojets to furnish virtul tree house. When the pupil s Bug Points reh the top of the meter (every 50 points), they will e shown n ojet tht will then pper in set lotion in the tree house in My rewrs. When the numer of ojets in the tree house rehes 30, some of the existing ojets will then strt to e swppe out with replements, e.g. eng for hir. Yer 2 The rewrs t this level re nimtions showing the growth of pet rgon. When the pupil s Bug Points reh the top of the meter (every 70 points), they will e shown one of series of short nimtions in whih the rgon grows, hnges olour n performs triks.
