2 Electroprop C-12 The Electroprop C-12 has the highest power density of any electric drive in this size range. The C-12 is water cooled with three jackets, one on each motor stator and one on the gearbox foot, enabling the drive to run cool in tight installations. Water can be cooled with a closed loop radiator, keel cooler or heat exchanger for hybrid applications. The C-12 is easy to install. A comprehensive manual guides you step by step through the entire installation process. The C-12 comes with a standard wiring harness or custom at no extra charge. Everything you need is included. 6 Electroprop C-12 Design Overview The Electroprop C-12 was designed to power boats up to 36 feet long, displacing up to 8 tons, at up to 6 knots. Every consideration has been given to make this the quietest, most compact electric drive available. The C-12 uses a water cooled motor on both stators plus water cooling in the gearbox to increase power levels and efficiency and allow mounting in very tight engine rooms with no air circulation. Water cooling can be accomplished with a radiator, keel cooler or heat exchanger for hybrid applications. The C-12 motor operates at up to 3,000 rpm. 1,000 propeller rpm. The C-7 comes in two different gear ratios, 4:1 with 750 rpm and 3:1 with The C-12 motor operates from 48 to 80 volts. This enables larger, safer series battery packs. Installations over 48 volts nominal include ground fault detection and alarm hardware. Speed reduction allows the use of a lighter motor turning at a higher rpm to create the same amount of power as a direct drive motor. This provides for a robust, powerful design in a smaller, lighter form allowing greater battery capacity. The planetary gearbox is the most compact, quietest gearbox solution available. The C-7 planetary gearbox is completely maintenance free with lifetime lubrication. There are no belts to inspect or change and there are no exposed moving parts. The thrust bearing is incorporated in the gearbox and does not require annual greasing. There are no side loads placed on the motor shaft or the drive shaft. The C-12 includes Sevcon s Clearview display for system information, analysis and programming and the E xpert Pro Battery monitor for accurate battery state of charge and remaining runtime. The flexible coupling protects the thrust bearing and provides an alignment indicator for easy, very accurate, alignment. Accurate alignment further contributes to high efficiency by having the drive train run true on every revolution. Use of our recommended high thrust propeller takes advantage of Electroprop s low end torque capability for higher efficiency so you may enjoy the longest possible range for your boat. The C-12 can be paired with a Yamaha or Honda 2,000 generator. Weighing just 45 lbs, these generators make ideal range extenders for small sailboats to run at up to 4 knots, creating a cost effective hybrid solution.
