4 Bakgrund och Syfte The purpose of the GoBiGas-project Climate targets require great efforts Bio-methane expected to play important role in transition from fossil dependent society. To increase bio-methane production, complementing technologies to anaerobic digestion are required. GoBiGas - Gothenburg Biomass Gasification Project GoBiGas shall in a commercial scale demonstrate the possibilities of gasification to produce renewable and CO2-neutral bio-methane
5 Project history Pre-studies gasification for biogas production in 2005 Ambition to build a large plant of 100 MW 100,000 vehicles A first pilot study to gain an understanding of the technology Studies from different vendors and evaluation of possible solutions Selection to go ahead and examine a specific solution Decision to split the project into a smaller demonstration plant, to be followed by a plant of commercial size Awarded funding from the Swedish Energy Agency Sep 25, 2009 State aid approval from the European Commission Dec 14, 2010 Board decision to implement Dec 16, 2010
