2 In order to create a single sign on Parent/guardian account that will encompass all of your children s information, follow the directions below or view the video instructions on the web at: How to Create A Single Sign On Parent Access Account From your internet browser, go to the PowerSchool Parent Portal: You will note that the log in screen has changed. The first thing you have to do is CREATE AN ACCOUNT. Do not try and log in with your old username and password on this screen; you will receive an error message. Click on the Create Account button. In the future after your account is created, you will login by entering your User Name and Password at the top of the screen. To create a parent/guardian account, you will need to enter the following information: The first section on the page, Create Parent Account, is the information necessary to establish the parent s account. All fields in this section are required, and include the following: Name: Parent first and last name as it is in PowerSchool Student notifications and correspondence related to your parent/guardian account will be sent to this . Desired Username: This will be Parent unique PowerSchool identity. Password: Parent password must be at least 6 characters long. The second section on the page, Link Students to Account, requires information for a minimum of one student be provided, and includes the following: Student Name (First and Last name of student MUST be entered EXACTLY as it is in PowerSchool). Access ID (previously labeled Guardian Web ID or Parent/Guardian username) Access Password (previously labeled Guardian Web Password or Parent/Guardian password) Relationship (Enter your relationship to the student) Parents may enter the information for up to seven students when initially establishing their account. If they need to add additional students they can do so after establishing the account by logging in and navigating to Account Management > Students. Click Submit when done. Common data entry errors include not completing all fields, entering an address or user name that is already associated to another account, or entering incorrect access IDs or passwords. When this occurs, parents will need to re-enter any information that was not entered correctly, and also re-enter any passwords for security reasons.
3 Enter Student First Name and Last Name Enter YOUR old PowerSchool Parent User ID and Password if you had an account. OR FOR new accounts, enter the Access ID & Access Password given to you to create an account Enter YOUR relationship to the student. Once you have created your account and added your child(ren), click ENTER. You will then be directed back to a log in screen where you will use your NEW Username and Password that you just created. After logging in, you will see the main Parent Portal screen. Across the top, you will see a tab for each of your children. On the left navigation bar there are links to several screens providing information about grading (for Middle and High Schools), attendance, comments, notifications, etc. Preferences in the PowerSchool Parent Portal The Notifications in the PowerSchool Parent Portal has been updated and needs to be setup to receive notifications. Click the Preferences icon in the top navigation menu. This page allows you to customize your preferences for each student associated to their account. Tip: add the student in the extra area so they receive the information too. Student accounts do you have this feature. Clicking on the Account Preferences tab on the left brings you to an Account Preferences Profile screen. Here you can change your address, username or password. Selecting the Students Tab from the Account Preferences screen takes you to a screen where you can add additional children to your account. Once again, you will need to know the original Parent/Guardian username and Parent/Guardian Password for that student. This information can be acquired from the Guidance Department secretary or If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact the guidance office and speak to Mrs. DiRienzi at or via ldirienzi@monroetwp.k12.nj.us. On the subject line please refer to Parent Access/PowerSchool.
4 Changing Profile Information and Adding Students to Your Account Click the Account Preferences icon. The Profile tab allows you to change your First Name, Last Name, address, User Name and Current Password. Click the Students tab to add another student to your account. Students can attend different schools; however, you must have your Access ID and Access Password to add them to your account. Enter the student's Name, Your Access ID and Password for the student and your relationship to the student. Click the Submit button to add the student to your account. The new student has been added to your account. Each of you students will have their own tab at the top of the page. To keep your student's data secure, Logout when you are finished. You should receive an with the following content: You have received this notification because the following information for your PowerSchool Parent account has changed: Student: Maggie Bear was added The change was made on 08/11/2012 at 09:18 AM. If the changes described above are accurate, no further action is needed. If anything does not look right, contact your school directly.
