Books for Babies Stories, songs, rhymes and tickles for newborns, pre-walkers, and their caregivers. Come meet other babies and cultivate pre-literacy skills. Pittsburgh branch Tuesdays at 10:15 AM running from January 12 to February 16. You must register for this program. Calvin Park branch Wednesdays at 10 AM running from January 13 to February 17. Through rhythm, rhyme and movement, children up to the age of 3 years will naturally develop language and early literacy skills. Experience hands on play with bells, rhythm sticks, scarves, shakers and more. Mondays at 10 AM running from January 11 to February 22. This is a drop in program. No program on February 15. 5 Play to Learn Move your body! Jump, skip, hop and more in our active program, Play to Learn. Through play-based activities and interactive books, children two years and up will develop their physical confidence. Isabel Turner Branch A Mondays at 10:30 AM running from January 11 to February 22. You must register for this program. Isabel Turner Branch B Wednesdays at 10:30 AM running from January 13 to February 17. You must register for this program. Coder Dojo Learn the languages of the future and develop your coding skills by developing web pages, apps and games in a fun and mentoring club environment. Participants are encouraged (but not required) to register for both Part 1 and Part 2. For ages 10 to 18. Isabel Turner Branch Part 1 Mondays at 6:30 PM running from January 18 to February 8. Isabel Turner Branch Part 2 Mondays at 6:30 PM running from February 22 to March 14. Family Literacy Week Saturday, January 23 to Saturday, January 30 I spy Drop by the Isabel Turner Branch anytime during Family Literacy Week and work together as a family to spot all the hidden objects in KFPL s own I spy game. Complete the challenge and enter to win a stack of books! Celebrate Family Literacy Week with Game Night! Bring the whole family. Try your hand at a board game, giant Jenga, giant Tic-Tac-Toe, and lots more fun giant games! All ages drop in! Tuesday, January 26 at the Calvin Park Branch from 6:30 to 8 PM. Thursday, January 28 at the Isabel Turner Branch from 6:30 to 8 PM. Jay and the Barn Flyz Join Jay and the Barn Flyz as they rock the Library for a special Family Literacy Week concert! Expect plenty of audience participation throughout, so bring your dancing shoes. Saturday, January 30 at the Isabel Turner Branch at 2 PM. For all ages. Free tickets required. Free tickets will be available at the branch one hour before show time. Limit of 6 tickets per person. Create Your Own Animal Mask Kids are invited to drop by and create an animal mask before enjoying the puppet show at Isabel Turner s Family Storytime. Featuring a variety of guest speakers, interviews, Q&A, panel discussions and presentations with different themes each month. January Seed Sprouting for Garden, Kitchen and Windowsill Learn how to start garden and container plants from seed and how to ensure they ll flourish in your garden, windowsill, balcony or countertop. Grow your own sprouts, microgreens and herbs to stock your kitchen yearround with fresh, nutritious greens. Bring your questions for the experts! Young Professionals Networking Mixer and Pitch Party Are you a young professional? Are you 21-39, living and working in Kingston, and looking to network with other like-minded people in the business community? Join us for an after-work networking meeting and social followed by the Awesome Foundation Kingston Pitch Party. This is a drop in program. Holiday Information All branches of the Kingston Frontenac Public Library will be closed on January 1 for New Year s Day. Information for Parents and Caregivers If your child is 6 years old or younger, it is expected that you will accompany him or her to our programs. If your is 7 to 11 years old, you must remain in the library while he or she attends our program. For Registered programs only, parents of children ages 9, 10 and 11 years may leave the building if they have provided staff with emergency contact information. If your child/youth is 12 years or older, they may visit the library independently and may act as a caregiver for younger siblings.
8 For Free Ticket events, tickets will be available at the branch one hour before show time. Limit of 6 tickets per person. For Drop-in events, admission is first come, first served. The Library in unable to accommodate groups at registered or drop-in programs for children. Groups include classes, daycares, daycamps, community groups, and any groups providing childcare and/or educational/recreational services to children. For more information visit our website.
