3 Professional Capacity The Centre s professional platform involves about 40 researchers. Its research areas are: Bioresources Bioheat Biofuel Biogas Sustainable assessments Value chains. The Centre combines expertise from biology, technology, finance and the market and to develop cost-efficient energy solutions. Value chain projects form the basis for sustainable analyses. Bioresources. The researchers work with the production of biomass from wood to its conversion into bioheat, and with the production of biogas from organic material like food waste, manure and municipal sludge.

8 Bioenergy Innovation Centre
9 The objective of CenBio is to develop the basis for a sustainable, cost-effective bioenergy industry in Norway in order to realise the national goal of doubling bioenergy use by CenBio will constitute the national team for stationary bioenergy use for the coming decade, which will coordinate and integrate expertise from diverse scientific fields. Production of and accessibility to biomass for energy purposes will have to be increased substantially. Great improvements must be made in the efficiency of biomass production, energy conversion and applications of Bioenergy. Waste and by-products need to be upgraded in order to be ecologically recycled as nutrients. Sustainability which includes environmental, climatic, economic and societal impacts will be documented for the entire bioenergy value chain. -> 5000 new green jobs in Norway and 10% CO2 reduction in Norway
