2 Having a play date seems easy enough, but for some, especially first time parents, it can be a bit tricky! This handy guide can help you plan the perfect dance play date for your little one, whether you re new to hosting play dates or a seasoned pro! PLAY DATE CHECK LIST: 1. First decide who, what, when, and where Make sure to invite everyone in your play group so as not to leave anyone out. If you want to send invitations, some fun samples can be downloaded from sites like Clean the areas where the children will play. If you have pets, make sure you keep them in a separate area. Some kids may not be as comfortable around pets as you are. Allergies are also a concern, so make sure moms know that you have animals. Don t be afraid or embarrassed to cancel if your child becomes sick. The last thing you would want is to expose others to your child s illness. Be flexible. Teach your child how to be a host. Prepare them during the days before their play date so that they are willing and eager to greet their guests. Remember that YOU ARE IN CHARGE! Children tend to get very excited when receiving guests, remind them how to be cordial and well behaved. Be sure you have enough snacks and drinks for the children as well as the adults. You don t want hungry beasts to spoil the fun! In some cases kids may be too shy to play. Be prepared with fun activities to help get them started.
