1 Mayo School of Continuing Medical Education Advances in Uro-Oncology: Eine Festschrift for April 29, 2006 Geffen Auditorium, Gonda Building Rochester, Minnesota Course Description Advances in Uro-Oncology: Eine Festschrift for Horst Zincke, M.D., Ph.D., is an academic seminar designed to present the latest state-ofthe-art techniques and applications in the field of urologic oncology. Experts recognized around the world will be brought together for this program to share their knowledge. Didactic sessions, panel discussions, and case presentations are an integral part of the overall learning experience.

2 General Information Horst Zincke, M.D., Ph.D., was born in Frankfurt, Germany, and attended college and medical school at the Universities of Marburg/Lahn, Saarbrücken/Saar, Germany and Innsbruck, Austria, as well as at the University of Frankfurt am Main. He completed an internship and general surgery residency in Frankfurt and then accepted a year of internship in general surgery at the University of Iowa. Dr. Zincke then came to Mayo Clinic Rochester where he entered the general surgery program and subsequently completed his urology residency and became a Post-Graduate Fellow in Organ Transplantation and Research. He joined the Mayo Clinic staff in 1975 as a Consultant in Organ Transplantation (Department of Surgery) and the Department of Urology, becoming full Professor of Urology in Dr. Zincke s special interests have always been in uro-oncology. He established the Genitourinary Oncology Fellowship and was subsequently named head of the fellowship program accredited by the Society of Uro- Oncology at Mayo Clinic. He is a member of many regional, national, and international organizations and educational boards. He has been honored as Teacher of the Year in Urology three times and is in the Teacher of the Year Hall of Fame at Mayo Clinic. In 1993 he was awarded the named professorship Urology Professor in Honor of Dr. David C. Utz, which he held until 1994 when he spent 5 months at Health Care International Glasgow, United Kingdom, as Head of Uro-Oncology Surgery and Renal Transplantation Surgery. He has been a prolific writer with 400 publications in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters as well as over 500 abstracts, editorials, and letters to the editor. He has given hundreds of invited presentations, including multiple invited professorships in this country and throughout the world. Dr. Zincke has had a distinguished career as a master surgeon, clinician, research investigator, and teacher and has been the court of urological last resort for many difficult uro-oncology cases. Course Learning Objectives Discuss the criteria for renal preservation in patients with bilateral renal cell carcinoma. Review the detailed surgical anatomy and surgical techniques in patients with renal cell carcinoma with extension into the vena cava and right atrium. Gain an understanding of the current chemotherapeutic and immunologic adjuncts to management of advanced renal cell carcinoma. Discuss the complications of surgery in patients undergoing radical retropubic prostatectomy. Understand the application of radiation therapy for patients with prostatic adenocarcinoma. Review the continent urinary reservoirs available to patients undergoing extirpative surgery for bladder carcinoma. Understand the current management of patients with carcinoma in situ. Discuss which patients with testis cancer are candidates for retroperitoneal node dissection. Review the current options for BPH other than transurethral resection of the prostate. Attendance at this Mayo course does not indicate nor guarantee competence or proficiency in the performance of any procedures which may be discussed or taught in this course.

3 General Information Intended Audience Advances in Uro-Oncology is directed to urologists, oncologists, urogynecologists, and radiologists. Credit Mayo Clinic College of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Mayo Clinic College of Medicine designates this educational activity for a maximum of 6 category 1 credits toward the AMA Physician s Recognition Award. Each physician should claim only those credits that he/she actually spent in the activity. Non-US Licensed Physicians The American Medical Association has determined that non-us licensed physicians who participate in this CME activity are eligible for AMA PRA category 1 credit. Educational Grants This course is supported, in part, by educational grants in accordance with ACCME Standards. At the time of this printing, a complete listing of commercial supporters was not available. Appropriate acknowledgment will be given to all supporters at the time of the meeting. Date and Location Advances in Uro-Oncology will be held Saturday, April 29, Course headquarters will be located in Geffen Auditorium on the subway floor of the Gonda Building, Mayo Clinic, 100 Second Avenue Southwest, Rochester, Minnesota. Meeting facilities are easily accessible by skyway and pedestrian subway, which connect Mayo Clinic to shops, restaurants, and hotels. Registration To register, complete the attached registration form and return by mail or fax. The registration fee includes tuition, break refreshments, lunch, and dinner. Although it is not Mayo School of CME s policy to limit the number of registrants for a course, conference room facilities may necessitate closing of enrollment; therefore, early registration is advised. A letter of confirmation will be sent upon receipt of payment and completed registration form. Please present the confirmation letter when checking in at the meeting registration desk. Cancellation Policy If you cancel your participation in this course, your registration fee, less a $75 administrative fee, will be refunded when written notification is received by Mayo School of CME before April 14, 2006 (fax#: ). No refunds will be made after April 14, Mayo School of CME reserves the right to cancel or postpone any course due to unforeseen circumstances. In the unlikely event Mayo School of CME must cancel or postpone this course, Mayo School of CME will refund the registration fee, but is not responsible for any related costs, charges, or expenses to participants, including fees assessed by airline/travel/lodging agencies. Parking Parking is available in hotel, city, and Mayo patient/visitor ramps. The cost for parking is not included in the registration fee. A map indicating the location of downtown parking facilities will be mailed with the registrant confirmation letter.

4 General Information Travel Rochester, Minnesota, is a friendly city that greets thousands of visitors from around the world each year. The city is serviced by a modern international airport with multiple flights daily from Chicago, Detroit, Dallas-Fort Worth, and Minneapolis via American or Northwest Airlines. Access to and from the airport is provided by taxi, shuttle service, and rental car. The airport is located approximately 10 miles from the Mayo Clinic campus. Should you require a larger variety in flight options, there is shuttle service available from Minneapolis to Rochester. Minneapolis is approximately 70 miles north of Rochester. Rochester Direct, a local shuttle company, is located in the Kahler Hotel. Their schedule is available on Reservations are strongly encouraged. Note to Travelers: Several cities in the United States are named Rochester. When you make airline reservations and check your baggage, be sure that your destination is Rochester, Minnesota (RST), and that your baggage has been properly tagged. Travel arrangements are the sole responsibility of the individual registrant. Lodging Accommodations Guest rooms have been reserved for attendees and their guests with special course rates at the Rochester Marriott Hotel. In order to receive the special rate, reservations must be made before the room block is filled or before the expiration date of March 29, 2006, whichever comes first. Reservations will be taken following this date based on space and rate availability. Please identify yourself as a participant of the Advances in Uro-Oncology when making your reservation. Social Programs Eine Festschrift Dinner for Dr. Zincke Following the academic portion of the program, there will be a semiformal cocktail party with entertainment and sit-down dinner reception at the Kahler Hotel. This will include the attendees and their guests. Advance reservations are requested. Public tours of Mayo Clinic are provided each day of the week beginning at 10:00 am, except for holidays. The tours originate from Judd Auditorium, Subway Level of the Mayo Building, and last approximately 1.5 hours. The tour includes a 20-minute film on the history and operation of the Mayo Clinic plus visits to points of interest in the Mayo, Plummer, and Hilton Buildings. Please make advance reservations by calling Mall of America, the largest fully enclosed retail and family entertainment complex in the United States, is an easy 90-minute drive or shuttle ride from Rochester, Minnesota. Along with 500 retail stores, restaurants, and nightclubs, the mall features Knott s Camp Snoopy, the world s largest indoor theme park, and UnderWater World, a walk through an aquarium featuring 15,000 fish.
