The Evil Within is a horror movie about people trapped in a haunted house that is killing them one by one. In this scene, Vinny s ex-girlfriend has stumbled into the house unaware of the house s murderous intent. INT. THIRD FLOOR HALL-NIGHT Faith charges into the room, but Sasha is already being dragged into the secret passage. (suddenly) Wait! Don t go in there! The secret passage shuts before Faith gets to it. She turns around, just as the door to Augie s room slams by itself. Vinny struggles to open the door. Faith! He kicks the door a couple of times, but to no avail. Faith, sit tight! I ll find a screw driver and take the hinges off! Vinny rushes down to the first floor. He looks around with the flashlight, then backs into Gina. She scares the shit out of him. What the fu--- Gina! Jesus Christ! Don t give yourself a heart attack. I just came to tell you--- (interrupting) How d did you get in here?! What do you mean? The front door s open. Why s it so dark in here?
(urgent) C mon! He grabs Gina by the arm. FOLLOW TONY AND into INT. FOYER-NIGHT The door is slightly ajar. CROSS CUT between Vinny dragging Gina towards the door and the open door. (objecting) Hey! You re killin my arm! Just when it looks like they re about to get out, Bruno and Alex walk through the door. Alex starts to shut the door behind them and Vinny lunges for it. (quickly) Don t shut the---! Bruno interrupts his statement with a punch in the stomach. Vinny reels and Alex shuts the door. (smug) Goin somewhere, Vince? None of us are, now. Alex hands Bruno one of his two baseball bats. You got my money? Some of it, but--- Bruno pokes him in the stomach with a baseball bat. Vinny reels and stumbles into the next room. Wrong answer. (to Alex) Get the lights.
Alex hits the light switch and the whole house lights up again. He stops Gina from following Bruno and Vinny into the next room. She looks in the direction of the living room with concern. INT. LIVING ROOM-NIGHT Vinny stumbles backwards on the fallen lamp and falls to the floor. He can now see that the sharp end of the lamp has blood on it. He stands up to show Bruno, but he bats it out of his hand without even looking. Get that outta here. What do you mean, some? I can give you a couple of hundred if I cash in some bonds. You ll get the rest with interest. I still got a job at Tony Luc s. (negotiating) Tell ya what, you got a credit card? Yeah. You take a cash advance for $1300, plus the bonds and we call it even. I would do that, but I reached my credit limit two months ago. (picking up bat) Can t say I didn t try. ANGLE ON ALEX AND In the background, Bruno works over Vinny with a bat and his feet. After Vinny is sufficiently beaten, he trades places with Alex.
(to Alex, aside) Make sure he can still work. Alex nods. Br-Bruno, I-I wasn t sure he was here I m not one to hold a grudge. It s just business. Forget about it. Gina looks after Vinny with growing concern. I thought you were mad at him. Figured you might enjoy this. So did I, but Don t worry. You don t need ten fingers to make a hoagie. C mon, I ll buy ya a drink. Bruno goes to the door, but it won t open. What the Hell? Did you lock this? No. (immediately) (calling) Alex! That s enough. Get over here and open this door. Alex looks up and walks over to the door with bloody hands. He hands his bat to Bruno. When he grabs the door he gets a big electric shock that knocks him off his feet. Ahhh! ALEX
Bruno tries the knob, but its too hot. (to Gina, demanding) What the Hell is this?! The lights dim and the whispering begins. JERIMIAH S DISEMBODIED VOICE (sinister) Hell is right. (laughs maniacally) ANGLE ON He s lying on the floor, barely conscious. His face is a bloody mess. In the corner of the room, crouched under a credenza, is Terry. She s so terrified, all she can do is hide and shake. (whispering) Terry? Terry just stay there. Bruno storms back into the room with Gina and Alex. (angry) Oh?! You think that s funny hoagie man?! Bruno kicks Vinny in the ribs. Ow! You spend all my money on your little spook house, huh?! You re a fuckin riot, let me go to my car and show you how funny the crowbar is! Bruno gestures to Alex and then to Vinny. Work em over again.
Alex shoves Gina onto the couch and begins to work on Vinny with the bat again. Bruno storms out of the room and into the kitchen. INT. BACK DOOR ROOM-NIGHT Bruno tries to get out the back door but it won t open. He kicks it a few times. He picks up a coffee mug (or nearby knick-knack) and throws it at the window. The mug breaks, but the window is fine. INT. LIVING ROOM-NIGHT Sick of seeing Vinny getting beat, Gina walks out of the room and heads for the first floor bathroom. Please, don t let her--- Vinny s pleas are cut short by another hit. INT. BATHROOM-NIGHT Gina adjusts her make up and without looking, turns on the faucet and reaches her hands down to wet her hands. Unfortunately, the water doesn t feel right and she looks down. The bowl of the sink is full of blood. Gina screams hysterically, reels back and falls into the bath tub. Inside the tub is Sasha s bloody corpse. ANGLE ON ALEX He stops beating Vinny and looks toward the screaming. Bruno comes back into the room. What sa matter? ANGLE ON BATHROOM DOOR Gina is off balance and can t get out of the tub. The door slams by itself, silencing her screams. PAN RIGHT to reveal Bruno, who looks down the hall. Unable to determine the source of the screams anymore, he goes back into the living room. INT. LIVING ROOM-NIGHT
Bruno gestures for Alex to leave Vinny alone and kneels down to negotiate with him. Okay, you tell me what the deal is, hoagie man. I got nuthin better to do than beat you as long as I m stuck in here. So how about opening the door, huh? (weak) It s not me It s the ghost (scoffing) Ghost. Of who? Jerimiah Billings He killed his whole family here Only one family? I m not impressed. Please, Bruno Your father s from the old country--- You can t disrespect the dead. Oh, yeah? Bruno stands up, defiant. (mocking) Oh, Aunt Jemiah! Come and get me! Bruno walks through the house. He gets to the lobby and stands under the center of the stairwell. He knocks over some of the knick-knacks on the table just for spite. Above him, on the third floor, is the rock sculpture. A CLOSER SHOT reveals that it has the strange Aztec symbol carved in its back. The table begins to teeter on its own.
I want out of this fuckin house, now! ALEX (worried) Bruno, maybe he s right. It ain t good to disrespect--- Fuck the dead! Fuck this house! And fuck--- Just as Bruno is about to finish his sentence, the table falls over, dropping the rock sculpture, which lands on Bruno s head and kills him. Bruno s gun falls out of his jacket and slides against a nearby chair.
