THE ART OF REUSE Water & Energy

THE ART OF REUSE Econvert designs and implements technology for the treatment of industrial wastewater & biogas We believe in a world in which people are responsible for their ecological footprint. And where they are able to control it. A world in which waste is a word used by people who lack the imagination to see the true value of residues. That s why we continuously work to perfect the art of reuse.

WHY ECONVERT? WHY ANAEROBIC? > High level of biological and technical knowledge > Flexible organization High return on investment > Up to 90% savings on discharge costs > Low operational costs and low maintenance > Conversion of wastewater into renewable energy > No sludge discharge costs > Small footprint > Innovative and creative thinking > Deeply rooted in anaerobic technology > Able to design and build total systems Proven technology > Applied worldwide for over 40 years > Applied on various types of wastewater - Pulp & Paper - Food & Beverages - Flavors & Fragrances - Tanneries & Textile - Chemical & Pharma STATE OF THE ART IN: AEROBIC VS. 4 UASB REACTOR Econvert-UASB The old school solution. Proven for decades and never fully replaced. The robust configuration enables the handling of large varieties of wastewater in both volume and composition. Econvert UASB Econvert EGSB Econvert IR > Footprint: LARGE > Footprint: MODERATE > Footprint: SMALL > Height: < 8 m > Height: > 10 m > Height: > 20 m > Loading rate: < 15 (kg COD/m3/d) > Upflow velocity: Low > Loading rate: < 25 (kg COD/m3/d) > Upflow velocity: Moderate > Loading rate: < 35 (kg COD/m3/d) > Upflow velocity: High SCA Hygiene Products Cuijk B.V., Cuijk, The Netherlands: It shows how Econvert fits to SCA s flexibility and enthusiasm Functionality > Balanced influent feed system for even distribution of wastewater > Sludge extraction system for removing heavy sludge Specifications > Fully insulated AISI316 tank, prefab ø 11x7m > 6 tons COD/day > Implemented in 3 weeks on site > Biogas to steam application > Modular three-phase separators for effective separation of solids, gas, and treated wastewater > Biogas collection in gas hoods, connected to your biogas valorization system > Top deck made of UV-stabilized PPC material > Also in completely gas-tight option to prevent from odor nuisance

EGSB REACTOR Econvert-EGSB The optimized compromise. Combining a small footprint with few internals. The unique settling system of the reactor has proven to retain solids also in high flow. Econvert UASB Econvert EGSB Econvert IR > Footprint: LARGE > Footprint: MODERATE > Footprint: SMALL > Height: < 8 m > Loading rate: < 15 (kg COD/m3/d) > Upflow velocity: Low > Height: > 10 m > Loading rate: < 25 (kg COD/m3/d) > Upflow velocity: Moderate > Height: > 20 m > Loading rate: < 35 (kg COD/m3/d) > Upflow velocity: High Papierfabrik Adolf Jass GmbH & Co. KG, Fulda, Germany: Our existing anaerobic reactors were all overhauled by Econvert. We ve seen an increase in overall capacity of over 30 %. This was achieved with sludge production in all our reactors. Functionality > Intense mixing of influent and external recirculation resulting in optimum COD concentrations > Adjustable up-flow velocity to adapt to specific circumstances > Multiple influent lines that can be adjusted individually: congestion control > Completely gas-tight systems: no odor nuisance > Biogas is collected in the head space of the reactor and forwarded for valorization > Patented three-phase separators designed for handling high water flows Specifications > 3 x EGSB 20 ton COD/Day > Completely gas-tight > Biogas to steam application > High calcium concentration

IR REACTOR Econvert-IR The high performer. Designed to create the ideal process conditions. The two-stage settling system enables internal recirculation. Due to this high COD concentrations can be treated and optimum biological conditions are secured. Econvert UASB Econvert EGSB Econvert IR > Footprint: LARGE > Footprint: MODERATE > Footprint: SMALL > Height: < 8 m > Loading rate: < 15 (kg COD/m3/d) > Upflow velocity: Low > Height: > 10 m > Loading rate: < 25 (kg COD/m3/d) > Upflow velocity: Moderate > Height: > 20 m > Loading rate: < 35 (kg COD/m3/d) > Upflow velocity: High Stora Enso Narew Sp. Z.o.o., Ostrołeka, Poland: With the Econvert-IR we ve not just got a reactor, we have got a solution to our wastewater problem. It s reliable and performs beyond expectations. Functionality > Internal and external recirculation provide optimum dilution > Patented mixing chambers avoid overloading of the bacteria > Better influent distribution through the patented influent system > Heavy sludge discharge points to prevent clogging > Polishing section between the upper and lower settling stage > Able to deal with high calcium concentrations > Available both as open top or completely gas-tight Specifications > Bolted tank ø 8 x 24m > 30 Ton COD/day > Expansion anaerobic treatment capacity > Including optimization aerobic stage, biogas buffer, and flare extension

SMALL SCALE TREATMENT Econvert ECO Designed to put you in control. As we dream of giving everyone the option to control their own ecological footprint, we provide small scale installations that still pay off. Fully automated and with low maintenance need, because we know wastewater is not your primary focus. If your COD-load is well below 3,000 kg/day, don t hesitate to ask for the options. Döhler Roggel Investments B.V., Roggel, The Netherlands By installing an Econvert-EGSB a return on investment of <3 years was achieved. Econvert UASB > Footprint: LARGE > Height: < 8 m > Loading rate: < 15 (kg COD/m3/d) > Upflow velocity: Low Econvert EGSB > Footprint: MODERATE > Height: > 10 m > Loading rate: < 25 (kg COD/m3/d) > Upflow velocity: Moderate Econvert IR > Footprint: SMALL > Height: > 20 m > Loading rate: < 35 (kg COD/m3/d) > Upflow velocity: High Rental Investing all your resources in production growth? Don t want to put downstream equipment on your balance sheet? But still facing discharge costs that can be avoided? Renting our ECO-installations could be the perfect solution for you. Not only do we provide the equipment, we can also assist you in the daily operation. Specifications > Processing temperature 25 C > Up to 2,500 kg COD/day > Composite tank (GRP), completely gas-tight > Including biogas buffer, flare, and biogas drying > Biogas to steam application > Over 90% COD removal efficiency

BIOGAS TREATMENT Econvert-Dsulph The perfect blend of biology and chemistry. Biogas typically contains H 2 S, a component harmful to you and your equipment. This desulphurization unit combines the chemical absorption of H 2 S in the scrubber with the biological recovery of elemental sulphur in the bioreactor. Functionality > H 2 S removal rates of over 99% can be achieved > Low operational costs due to regeneration of alkalinity in the bioreactor > Production of high grade elemental sulphur > No oxygen or nitrogen is added, therefore the biogas quality is maintained > Low risk on clogging in scrubber, as no biological activity takes place there Other biogas treatment products > BIOGAS BUFFERS Biogas buffers for stabilizing pressure and/or storing biogas > FLARES Emergency flares and high temperature flares for safe excess gas treatment > BIOGAS BLOWERS/COMPRESSORS Increasing pressure by means of side channel or roots blowers > BIOGAS COOLING/DRYING Biogas cooling/drying for lowering the dew point Paper mill, USA - Up to 300 kg sulphur/day - Output requirement < 200 ppm H 2 S - Insulated GRP reactor and scrubber

OUR SERVICES PALETTE So there you have your wastewater treatment installation. Brand new or for years already. But in the end, it s not the equipment that treats your water, it s the process. We assist you with optimizing your treatment processes in many ways, because only then can you really benefit from your investments. Consultancy > Process support > Technical/technological audits > Wastewater analyses > Biodegradability tests Papierfabrik Adolf Jass GmbH & Co. KG, Fulda, Germany: Econvert technologists support us in our day-to-day WWTP operation; they are especially helpful when calamities occur.
