1 Inter-regional exchange district heating development Location: Växjö, Sweden Date: 4 5 October 2011 The Energy Agency for Southeast Sweden invites district heating developers from Ireland, Italy and Estonia to participate in an interregional exchange within the RBBD project, a sub-project within BIO- EN-AREA. In Sweden, bioenergy is the largest energy source contributing to almost 32 % of the energy use. District heating is widely spread and more than 50 % of the energy used for heating of non-industrial buildings is supplied by district heating, mainly originating from the combustion of biofuels. During the two-day exchange you will learn more about district heating and how it works in Sweden. You will visit three district heating plants of different size, one of which is a combined heat and power plant. Welcome!

3 Practical information Travel to Växjö Växjö is located in southeast Sweden. The easiest way to reach Växjö is to fly to Copenhagen airport. From Copenhagen airport there are trains taking you to Växjö.
