3 Landfill Gas Measurement & Recovery Landfills produce a mixture of methane and carbon dioxide with traces of nitroen, oxyen and other ases. These ases are extracted from multiple wellheads and collected throuh a network of pipes to a common header pipe. Typical systems also involve blowers, pumps, knock-out pots and a flare or oxidizer. The collected reenhouse as may be disposed of or recovered as a fuel source for a co-eneration enine to produce electric power. The output from this biomass diestion process is bioas, a mixture of methane (CH 4 ), carbon dioxide (CO 2 ), water and trace hydroen sulfide (H 2 S). Numerous projects and various technoloies are bein tested and deployed around the world to capture and utilize this methane as a fuel source. Whether to maximize the process or report actual methane captured, measurin methane flow is interal to ensurin the success of this process.
