4 Proctor Check-In 4:00 to 6:00 PM Dorm Proctors arrive to check-in with the Dorm Directors. This is required. Saturday, August 27, 2016 Dorm Team Dinner 6:00 PM Proctors, Dorm Directors, and Dorm Parents will gather for dinner in their respective dorms. This is required for all Proctors and dorm staff. 8:00 to 9:30 AM Peer Leader Check-In 9:00 to 9:45 AM TBD Details will be shared with students over the summer. Sunday, August 28, 2016 Peer Leader and Proctor Training 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM The Fonseca Center Sharon Room Peer Leaders and Proctors will meet with their faculty and staff advisors for a training session. Students will also train with their respective leadership program during this time. This will include a working lunch. This is required for Upper School Peer Leaders and Proctors. Preseason Boarding Student Check-In 1:00 to 3:00 PM Masters Hall Welcome to Masters! This is the time to arrive and check-in for new and returning boarding student athletes and dancers ONLY. NOTE: Schedules will be posted on LMS by Friday. Finalized physical schedules will be given to students on the first day of classes Boarding Life - Family Presentation 3:30 to 4:30 PM The Fonseca Center Sharon Room At this time, there will be a Boarding Life Presentation with the Director of Residential Life. This session is strongly recommended for preseason boarding students and their families. 4

Enjoy light refreshments as you connect with those who will be your students adult support systems in the dorms. This session is strongly recommended for preseason boarding students and their families. Picnic Dinner 5:30 to 7:00 PM Outside of Grab dinner while getting to know your new community members and reconnecting with familiar faces. All preseason students, families, faculty, and staff are welcome. This is an opportunity for families to meet their students coaches. Family Farewells for Boarders 7:00 to 7:10 PM The time has come to say farewell to your family. Get ready to begin your new academic year at Masters! Dorm Meeting 7:15 PM Head over to your dorm to meet with your Dorm Parents. Boarding Families Coffee and Dessert 7:15 to 8:15 PM Estherwood Saying goodbye is difficult talking with others having the same experience can make it easier. And chocolate cake always helps! Meet other boarding families, the Head of School, and residential faculty members at this reception. 7:00 to 8:00 AM Monday, August 29, 2016 Preseason Day Student Check-In 8:00 to 9:00 AM Masters Hall Welcome to Masters! This is the time to check-in for new and returning day student athletes and dancers ONLY. NOTE: Schedules will be posted on LMS by Friday. Finalized physical schedules will be given to students on the first day of classes Athletics and Dance Company Meeting and Practice 9:15 to 11:00 AM Meet in Athletes and dancers will meet with the Director of Athletics and our faculty dance instructor in the Claudia Boettcher Theatre at this time for a review of the week and will then depart for practice/rehearsal from there. This is required for all preseason athletes and dancers. 5

Students not participating in preseason who need to take a placement exam will have the opportunity to do so at a later date. Lunch 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM 9

11 7:00-8:00 AM Friday, September 2, Community Weekend Begins Campus Store Open! 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM (Closed 12:45 to 1:45 PM) Go to the campus store to buy last minute school supplies or a new Masters sweatshirt! College Counseling Office Open 9:00 to 10:45 AM and 3:30 to 4:15 PM College Counseling Office The College Counseling Office will have open office hours from 9:00 to 10:45 AM and 3:30 to 4:15 PM. Families and students: Feel free to stop by and introduce yourself and ask any questions you might have. Athletic Practice 9:00 to 11:00 AM Predetermined Locations This is an open practice for parents who would like to attend. This is required for athletes. Dance Company 9:00 to 11:00 AM Dance Studio This is required for dancers. New Student Check-In 9:00 to 10:30 AM Masters Hall All NEW students (ALL 9 th graders and new 10 th and 11 th graders) who were not participating in preseason will check in at this time. Go to your grade level table outside of Masters Hall to begin the process. Boarders will receive their room keys at this time. Student Proctors will be available to help boarders move into their dorm rooms during this time frame as well. NOTE: Schedules will be posted on LMS by this date. Finalized physical schedules will be given to students on the first day of classes. Non-Preseason Boarding Student Check-In 9:00 to 10:30 AM Masters Hall All boarders who were not participating in preseason will check in at this time. Go to the Residential Life level table outside of Masters Hall to begin the process. Boarders will receive their room keys at this time and student Proctors will be available to help boarders move into their dorm rooms during this time frame as well. NOTE: Schedules will be posted on LMS by this date. Finalized physical schedules will be given to students on the first day of classes 11

12 Parent Association Hospitality Tent 9:00 to 11:00AM In Front of Masters Hall This is a great place to meet other families in the Masters community. Campus Tours Tour 1: 10:00 AM Tour 2: 12:00 PM Meet in the Admission Waiting Room in Masters Hall Take an optional tour of the campus, led by one of our Gold Key tour guides. Meet Your Advisor 11:00 AM to 12:45 PM New students (ALL 9 th graders and new 10 th and 11 th graders) and their families go to the at 11:00 AM. Find a seat and wait for further instructions on where to meet your Advisor. Advisors will schedule individual meetings with each student and family. While you re not meeting with your advisor, feel free to grab some lunch! NOTE: New students who participated in preseason are required to attend today s new student programs. Lunch 11:30 AM to 12:45 PM Lunch is available for students and their families. Weather permitting there will be both indoor and outdoor seating available. Welcome Meeting 1:00 to 2:00 PM All new students and their families, as well as student leaders will gather in the to be welcomed by administrators, teachers, and student leaders. Speakers: Laura Danforth, Head of the School Matt Ives, Head of the Upper School Jeff Carnevale, Dean of the Class of 2020 Jonathan Greenberg, Senior and Co-Chair of Community Government Ingrid Hirt, Senior and Co-Chair of Community Government New Student Orientation 2:15 to 4:45 PM 2:15 to 3:15 Student Panel 3:15 to 4:00 IT Session 4:00 to 4:45 Peer Group Meetings During this session, all new students (ALL 9 th graders and new 10 th and 11 th graders) will attend a Q&A session for tips about adjusting to Masters, learn about technology at Masters, and have an opportunity to meet with their Peer Leaders in small groups while getting to know fellow new students. This is required for all new students. 12

13 Question and Answer Panel for New Families 2:15 to 3:25 PM Estherwood New families will join key administrators, including the Dean of Students, the Head of the Upper School, the Academic Dean, the Director of Residential Life, and the Director of Athletics to participate in a question and answer panel discussion. We know you have a lot of questions. This is your chance to have them answered! College Counseling Office Open 3:30 to 4:15 PM College Counseling Office The College Counseling Office will have open office hours from 9:00 to 10:45 AM and 3:30 to 4:15 PM. Feel free to stop by and introduce yourself and ask any questions you might have. New International Parent Meeting 3:30 to 4:00 PM Alumnae/i Room All new international students parents will meet with the International Student Advisor to answer questions about what to expect throughout the year. What is unique about the international student experience? Where do students go during breaks? What are student and parent expectations? All of these questions will be answered during this session. Communication with Masters 3:30 to 4:15 PM Library Conference Room Our Director of Communications will offer an optional presentation to families, explaining what to expect in communications from Masters, how best to communicate with the school, and on how to access the mymasters parent portal. Boarding Life Presentation 4:00 to 5:00 PM The Fonseca Center Sharon Room The Director of Residential Life will make a presentation to new boarding families and be available to answer your questions. This session is strongly recommended for families of boarding students. English language testing is for all new international students placed in English as a Second Language (ESL) courses. Lunch 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM New International Student Orientation 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM Library Conference Room All new international students will meet with the International Student Advisor to review key information and events for the year, and to answer any questions students may have. 15 New York City Orientation and Field Trip 1:00 to 6:00 PM Masters Hall Boarding students will travel into New York City for a scavenger hunt in order to familiarize themselves with neighborhoods and methods of transportation. Dinner 6:00 to 7:00 PM Dorm Lip Sync Practice 9:00 to 10:00 PM Boarding students will meet with their dorms in order to practice for the Dorm Lip Sync competition the following night.
